GPS extraction

Since the site is being overhauled and upgraded ya'll might want to add an extraction block in the photo and video data that shows GPS coordinates. More and more cameras are getting GPS capability. Might as well stay on the leading edge and not play catchup later. What do you think Jonathan?

What is the sense of GPS in video for buyers?

It gives a location. Some buyers can then determine on a map where a video was captured and the angle to the primary subject. For example a video in Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone is a very very large area, larger than some states and countries. We currently put the "city" location; so if it says Los Angeles it's still so vague to be almost worthless information. Same goes for New York, Tokyo etc etc. The high end camera makers are adding GPS into their products so there must be a reason and or value. Too much data is not bad.

My older Sony XR550 has it (not "high end").
I think for the traveling artist it may well to remember where a shot is done.
But the buyer? Whatfore?
Can't imagine that any buyer search video clips by coordinates.

Not a search by coordinates. Just added information that does have value in many circumstances. P5 doesn't really give buyers very much information about the products; no camera info, processing program info etc etc. For clips that are used for historic, science, geography, environmental changes etc it has some value. It's free data. Wonder how people use the photos on Google Earth that are tied to coordinates on a map? Hummm.
Just a suggestion that camera makers have determined has some value. ')

Don,
I prefer not to add GPS for the reason that I don't want my video location be known for competitor ! LOL

+1 pat.
The only beneficiary of the GPS data is the artist him/herself.
Remove data before sending.
