What is the "Default" view?

I'm trying to get a handle on how videos are displayed here - when I do a search on a keyword, for example, "poverty," the order the clips come up in seems to be sort of random. Is that the idea?

There is a secret formula that includes criteria such as upload date, number of sales, number of views, etc... that determines the sort order of "Default View".
The reason it's secret is so that nobody can "game the system" to give their clips an advantage.

That was the sense I got. Thanks.

Hey Bruce, welcome to P5. Remember it does take time for "art" to get bought here or anywhere. I see you just started in late Oct 2010, Google and other search engines regularly sweep through and also help with outside of P5 finds and searches. I would not worry about how the search engine here works, give it time and keep sending quality work. P5 is a great company and takes care of it's artists far better than any other stock agency. They will take care of all the artists that send in quality work. There is a need for them to rate as they approve. There are thousands of clips here that are not worth much and some that are great. Even the junk sells regularly. Like Kennon has said keyword accurately with no spam and it will work out just fine.

Default view uses an algorithm that we have devised to make sure the user is shown the highest-quality clips possible for a specific keyword, and it is secret and changes from time to time, but it basically processes data on the clips (from sales to curator rating) and prioritizes them accordingly.
Also, viewing your own clips does not boost your views, nor does using your dashboard features.

phantomewo,
Hello. I'm not too worried about sales. I'm a patient person. The way I figure it there's probably something here for enough people to pick through and possibly find something they like. And if they don't like it that is cool too. There's lots of choices here and some people just don't like anything made with a computer. Which if you think about it would apply to even the videographers who edit and upload with a computer ;)
So again thanks for the info.
