Where did you find out about P5 at NAB? I don't see them listed on the nabshow.com site?

But shouldn't P5 be the one telling us it first?
Is there any official news from P5 towards us, or is the link provided the only source?

Don't get me wrong: I think P5 is the best in every field of RF footage!

We have a great way to put a Widget on our personal home page but is it possible to embed a single video from P5 to our own home page yet? I have a few clips but I've used YouTube or others and embedded their viewer. Sure would be great to have a P5 viewer instead of marketing for Google Videos or YouTube.

There is an upside and a downside to this philosophy. By not using the Youtube/Google, Revver and so on... methods, you eliminate a large audience that may fall onto your video. P5 is not a video portal per se as is Youtube or any of those other youtube type sites. I would much rather see P5 come out with finished trailer type clips that we could use to be embedded within videos that are posted to those type of sites. This would make for a consistent message as well as still give the flexibility to keep the mass audience of a Youtube.

For a single clip, you could probably "hijack" the code from the preview page of the video and simply modify the url's to full url's, unless Marcus locked that down to only work from within the P5 domain.

If you want to promote your vids, then make your own stock footage demo and post it everywhere with a link back to P5 using your referrer string. That seems to work very well. I have been monitoring my referrers and they have been increasing steadily since my launch of stock demos with a P5 embedded logo or trailer at the end. You can also put the full link into the text descritpion on Youtube - it does work. Other sites may not allow or like that such as vimeo, but then Vimeo likes to share (download) the vids and let people download them. So again, embed the stuff in the video as a watermark/copyright thing.

You could really create havoc by putting vids of that nature up onto the National Geographic site as well (they own Getty, iStock yada yada) :)

There is another upside, when doing the youtube thing, you have more control and can make it a more entertaining thing as well, (i.e. add some nice music) and when the vid is finished playing, it will show other vids from you if you want it to.

And finally, if you do quality productions, even adverts for stock footage can be entertaining, you could even make some bucks from google/youtube.. via the adsense program.

Now you may be wondering why I am promoting the likes of a youtube and such.. well, I am not, but what has happened is that a Canadian production company that does Children's Discovery programming and productions for Discovery channel found me and my stock footage via Youtube. At that time they did not know that P5 existed until they found my stuff. (Hence, when they actually called me, I told them that is where they can get all kinds of cool footage..) I may have gotten a sale, maybe many got a sale from that, but the point is that it worked! And it helped everyone, not just me. Make sense?

They key is to drive interested or "qualified" traffic to us. And this is one method, and it seems to be working. But one thing that is very important - DO NOT PUT ONLY PROMO VIDS UP THERE! Offer a variety. Various themes and concepts... they will all bring someone in eventually. This Discovery Channel production company actually found one of my "Alien, UFO, SkyFish and/or Rods" videos. There was no mention in that vid about P5, but they looked at more of my stuff because that vid was the doorway to me. The rest is history. I agree with lord vader, we should all do more "grassroots" marketing. We should promote p5 as kind of a pro stock site that has the best stuff because of its diverse and artist friendly environment.

I recently put my demo reel up on my myspace page (my website.) Ive already gotten 2 indie B-movies asking me to do custom projects. myspace has its own video network like youtube, so thats another place you can upload videos.

Thanks P5 Team, your viewer link is perfect, looks better on a web page than a big YouTube watermark. I do understand what ya'll are saying about marketing P5 through Gogle Video and YouTube also. Sometimes is nice just to have a nice clean clip on a web page.
.
Maybe P5 could embed a link so when someone clicks on video it links back to P5 page for the video to sell.
Thanks,

Don
