Advanced Search

Advanced Search... I don't see it.

Sorry if I've missed an obvious link...

I'm looking for the ability to:

Search by Title, Description, Keyword or a mixture of the three. Searching by Title-only would be a big help to improve the relevance of search results.

Search by Subject, original format, location, era, or any of the other meta tags we are providing when uploading clips.

Include or Exclude words from the results. For instance search on "Lincoln" and Include "Abraham" and Exclude "Nebraska".

Clip Bins: great idea, but I'm stumped on how to navigate other than browsing 2000 bins. Again, sorry if I'm not seeing the link to search the bins.

I figure, if I don't see the link to advanced or bin search, maybe some customers don't as well. thx

Hi, P5 crew!
I join to question - how to navigate among the bins (when typing keywords in search field I see only clips - not bins) and how to use adv. search?
Also, how to know in which bins my clips are added (cannot find this info in track's info)?

P.S.: I read in some thread about q argument but have no idea about the syntax. Btw, I think it is a way better to provide droop down menu option for this search option.

Thanks in advance!

Hey, guys!
Does anybody know how to navigate among these bins?
And how to know - in which bins my works are included?
P5, give a feedback, please!
Thanks in advance!

Hi,

The search_bins page is a stripped down version of the normal search page.

https://www.pond5.com/zh/index.php?page=search_bins&q=artist:Trans_OM
https://www.pond5.com/zh/index.php?page=search_bins&q=cars

The special colon search options are
artist:username <- bins from this user
!artist:username <- no bins from this user
clipbin:123:234 <- show clipbins 123 and 234
misc:hasdesc <- show bins with description

We could add more options you see fit too, no problems.

Best,
Marcus

wow, that cars link for the bins search is really powerful. If you could add a way to enable a bins search easily for the customers it would be huge.

The search operators are technical, perhaps too complicated for the average user. How about a Bins check box? That would be pretty user friendly.

Is it possible to search for clips with lt gt or eq number of keywords?
For example I want to isolate all clips with 25 keywords or less.

Thanks, Marcus!
Sorry for my dumbness, but I do not understand - what exactly should I enter into "search" field to achieve such results?
Can you give an example:
1) step 1
2) step 2
3) ...

Agreed with "time_lapse" - it is too complicated to the customers who definetely will not spend time to learn basics of P5 search functions. Dropdown menu with "search bins" flag is the best solution, imho.

Much thanks!

I agree, for a programmer the search may be understandable but for a non-programmer it is just too difficult and time consuming. IMHO a complex search should be as easy as "include" and "don't include". An example is:
"Phantomewo" "tropical" "beach" "don't include Hawaii"
plain english text. The "include" and "don't include" should be easy checkbox before the word is typed.
