Interpretations of old technological terms

AllFractUp why in the hell do you think the comment was derogatory? You asked a question and the entire reason was to cause controversy trying to justify fractals as fitting all categories of stock. There isn't a person here that has respect for you as an artist based on your comments and thread spam. With over 10,000 fractal of yours here at P5 you are pissed cause you can't figure out how to sell your art here at P5. The waste of bandwidth and storage is considerable based on little or no return to either yourself or P5.

I wish you luck at shows, demonstrations and galleries for your work. Your art is good but there are 10,000 similars and relatively no sales. So the bottom line ... everything is computer generated now, everything. So everyone needs to keyword all products with CG to cover the old folks and new ones. LOL.

Fract - what could possibly have been derogatory in the info posted by phantom? Perhaps you simply and still don't have any appreciation when people try to actually give you valid information. Considering you sitemailed some of us actual apologies - you sure aren't living up to it. This in turn defines the character. Your apology, which was unsolicited by the way, is pretty much useless as you continue to "badger the boards" and now fellow artists for no apparent reason. I certainly hope that the Pond5 peeps are keeping an eye on this as it is totally uncalled for. You are in desperate need of learning http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netiquette at this point before posting more nonsense and nasty responses when people are merely answering your questions.

Take a chill pill folks. I wasn't saying anything at all about fractals or CG. I posted a straight forward question to which Phantom immediately responded in a demeaning fashion with his first answer and then followed up in a similar fashion to a second question. I had not veered off from the purpose of this thread which was to gain an understanding of how old terms apply to an age where footage, video, and other terms are no longer applicable in their original context. Or are they? To the people who grew up with them or coined the phrases or even created the technology it may still have meaning. But to a younger crowd it may not. Or is it really a matter of language at all?

So, that is how I feel about this right now. Nothing more, nothing less. Anything else a tangent on behalf of the person(s) posting irrelevant thoughts or opinions or information...such as sales data or continued accusations of being "defensive". These things may be repeated until you are blue in the gills but it doesn't mean anything except to the person who tries diligently to paint a falsehood of life.

Was this thread set up as a snare? Hardly. So why all the fuss from Phantomewo to perpetuate a state of mind he fabricates? I dunno. But for what it is worth my impression of the way things work on the forums is I'm not supposed to participate in any forum ever again, not even on my own threads?

Bruce since you grew up in an era of the old technological terms footage and video what is your interpretation? Enlighten us all with your expert knowledge on the subject.

We know what the terms mean and that they are still in use today even though there have been technological advancements in equipment used today to capture full motion moving images.

I should thank you for offering me your understanding of the term "video". I had not stated anywhere an expertise on the subject of videography. Rather the contrary I had said I am not a videographer. That was the chief reason I started this thread. To see how the old terms still apply, or can be used in a modern world that is or has gone all digital / computerized.

The purpose was not to say that anything that is created or aided via computer can then be shoehorned into a single broad category as Phantomewo has posited.

Yes I sent out three or four personal apologies to you, Phantomewo, and one or two others with the hopes of starting over as a "clean slate". With that acceptance from you and from another I moved on with my life. I have little real interest in the video side of things right now. Sure I look at some of the things you guys or gals are sharing. But that pretty much is it. I don't take shots of boats, cars, animals, nature, buildings, signs, business meetings, people, weapons, war, suicide attacks, churches, temples, or mosques. I leave that sort of thing up to those who wish to explore those realms.

I don't go out of my way to talk trash about those endeavors either, or the folk who choose to record or preserve such things. I don't presume that I am the only one who can write whatever I like and then cry fowl if someone else wants to write about a related topic. I do try not to be a hypocrite. Though none of us are perfect, I have neither good nor bad feelings for most of y'all. As for respect...I was never seeking it. Nothing gained...nothing lost. I have no personal vendetta for anyone here or elsewhere.

When I started here I commented somewhere that I already have a job. That sales off Pond5 will come eventually. I don't get wigged out when something doesn't sell. My personal marketing efforts will soon start. I wanted first to get the two most popular HD formats uploaded. Now I am uploading the remainder of my "multimedia" HD creations. Some of them aren't even fractals at all. As for netiquette I was up on that stuff when I first started using BBS systems.

Now that that is out of the way, again...back to making fractals, slogans, and other things I choose to pursue.
