Yes, totally free (no watermark). It helps Pond 5 attract new customers who a.) may like your clip enough to buy more clips from you or b.) become long-term customers-- which benefits everyone. You can elect to receive a free clip each week yourself, if you sign up to be notified.

Yes, as RightCoast said, Pond5 offers these clips for free. The clip is offered completely clean, with no watermarks or other branding. As I have uploaded my clips, I've checked the box on a few to allow them to be offered for free. I get a weekly e-mail from Pond5 offering a free clip, which I almost always download and save. I'm a filmmaker myself, and I never know what I might need in one of my projects.

I had a good experience with it checking this box, but I'm not sure it will be replicated. Pond5 ran a promotion using one of my clips which got a ton of downloads on the clip - and what I assume was "donations" as two people who downloaded the clip also paid an arbitrary amount (not based on my pricing of the clip). I've since checked the box on a few clips as I upload them, but haven't seen my content in any more promotions.
I think of them as gateway clips - clips that people might get for free but hopefully spark interest in seeing what else is available.
I do have a question about those clips being available to people with the membership - is that how the membership clips are picked?

I usually click the option on music and audio but I have never seen a free audio file being offered
