Kostroma — city (with 1152) in Russia on river Volga, river port. Kostroma was founded in the XII century, and in the XIII century became the center of the Principality. The historic city center has largely retained exemplary of its kind ensemble of the classicism of the late XVIII-XIX century From monuments of the pre-Petrine era the most interesting complexes of the Ipatiev and Epiphany monasteries Anastasiyaua. The city is included in the list of settlements with the official status of "historical", and is traditionally included in the "Golden Ring of Russia".
