Music reduced to 35% - Disgusting Pond5

Sabertone 20 Aug 2019 17:20
I have just read the newly updated terms and conditions and the share of revenue for music has been further reduced to 35%.

Pond5 is rapidly declining in standards for artists. I will now focus on the three other sites that offer me 50% without exclusivity.

I am highly disgusted as well!

I totally agree. After all Pond5 is wandering from being an highly artist-friendly portal, to the other extreme.

Also 35 % is NO WAY the industry standard. The industry standard is, and ever has been 50 %. But what is even worse is that they bring this mail like it's something good coming up.

I will withdraw my music very soon as well, if they wont re-consider their updated agreement. Simply as there are way more other libraries, with good sales and a descent 50/50 split.

It's a despicable move, no doubt! Could you point me to those other markets, that offer a better percentage, via private message, mates?

Screw you pond5.

Taking 65% thats really sh*tty of you. Once again lets all step on the artists, we don't need to make a half decent living do we - we can survive on air and water!

Let me guess pond5 is following slightly in the footsteps of spotify and others who's opposing a rate increase for artists in the US. But pond5 is worse, they're giving us a pay cut and making out like we should be happy about it.

this came like a bomb! seriously? really Pond5? wow.... devastating

Yes, I'm also very disappointed in this rate reduction from 50% to 35%. WITH NO NOTICE. It's also bait-and-switch when in the same email they try to take a percentage of our (limited) publishing opportunities as well, claiming that we'll make more money in the long run. Joining and registering at a PRO --ASCAP, BMI, SESAC in the USA and equivalents elsewhere-- is a SIMPLE process folks.

Sorry, Pond5 (and CDBabyPro, SongTrust, TuneCore, and others): Be Real!! Composers and producers who can figure out DAW software like ProTools, Logic, Cubase, Ableton, and more, and all of the mixing and mastering plugins out there, don't need SUB-PUBLISHING agreements to collect what's ours.

Pond5 has a competitive platform and wants to grow, but it shouldn't expand by hurting the musicians/composers and sound artists who post their hard work on the site.

Pond5 went from the best agency to the worst. At this point I'm looking forward to seeing another company rise to the top and give Pond5 what they have coming.

I`m interested in hearing other options. Can someone point me out to other marketplaces via private message

Artist should be earning more than 50% even non exclusive. We are the merchandise. 50/50 is a fair one. But something lower is a steal

The main discussion going on about the very unfair changes in income for Music & Sound Effects artist is happening at this thread you may want to take your discussion over here.
