How to list Multiple Formats

How do you have multiple formats (HD 1080, 720, or SD 480) in a clip listing? Example:

You need to upload all the clips and then sent a mail to pond5 and ask them if they can combine the clips.

Sent them a list with the id's of the clips that need to be combined

At the moment I am stating which other formats are available in the description rather than using the above facillity. As discussed elsewhere I am concerned that if a potential buyer moves his mouse over one of my icons and the preview comes up with PAL written under it for example. that buyer may not click on it if he wants say NTSC. Most clips one clicks on do not have other versions and my concern is that I could be losing potential customers by collating my clips this way.

The best thing would be to have clips which are in multiple formats come up with "multiple formats available" written underneath the preview so buyers would know.

It's a difficult one because my portfolio would certainly look slicker if a lot of the duplicates were not visible and one could argue that buyers probably search by format in any case. The truth is that I'm still undecided as to the best approach.

Send the clip numbers to contact@pond5. Only the admin staff can do it and each series must be requested. Don't do it in the "notes to curator" edit box. Format them like exactly like this -

822024:882018:882017

You don't need anything else in the email. If you have a lot of them you can list them in the same email.

I noticed that in such cases the feature "sort by number of sales" in search results does not work properly. The number of displayed sales is probably the sum of the sales of the group, not the sales of the displayed clip.

Seems to be working ok on this end. In fact the clip 516262 with the dead fish sold 7 times and comes up first when sorted by number of sales.

Jason, thank you for checking my numbers, I blush. However this thread refers only to clips uploaded in multiple formats. I upload my clips only in one format, therefore the order is correct. In the same time @tbmvideo uploads in multiple formats and therefore his sorting is wrong, e.g. 8,14,4 sales.

We very much prefer for multiple formats to be grouped using our system, since many people request a higher or lower resolution of a file and if we're not aware there are multiple formats available for a file we cannot recommend them to the buyer (we're usually viewing files from an admin page, and aren't checking the descriptions). It also helps straighten up our collection and keeps users from having to sift through three or four versions of the same clip in search results.

If you have a standard naming convention for your clips (like a -hd.mov, -ntsc.mov, -pal.mov) it's quite simple to link your files together. If not, then sending the clipID's in the 822024:882018:882017 convention Terry mentioned is our preferred method.

It appears your search function does not return the thumbs for lower resolution clips that are attached to say an HD clip as you request above. This, imo, can cause confusion to the prospective buyer.

Example,.... if I search for one of my NTSC clips that is 'attached' in the file description to an HD clip (as an alternate available resolution ) ... I don't get the thumb for the NTSC clip in the search results.... I get the HD thumb..... with no information on the mouse over pop up player that leads me to know that there are multiple versions of the HD clip (represented by the 16x9 thumb). Without any info on the player's window letting the user know they should click through to the description this may be confusing to the buyer.

I would agree with others who have mentioned that a notation that multiple resolutions are available..... possibly on the player's pop up window or as part of the search results would go a long way to alleviating the concerns on this aspect of the search function.
