Has anyone had much luck selling stills on Pond5? Prices seem to be from the sublime (ie high) to the ridiculous (ie $4). I know P5 is best for footage but I have a bunch of edited and keyworded stills that I could Upload easily.

My portfolio is not very rich, about 280 photos, and in all these years I sold one for $ 6.99.

I'd upload all your stills to Pond5, why not?, you can price at whatever you think they're worth and while still photos might not be their strong point if something sells you'll get more than the 7 or 10 cents at the other sites and since you already have the content, titles and keywords?, why not?.

Unfortunately, P5 does not appear to have an established client base for photos, so making sales here is a proverbial crap shoot at best. That said, I'm not a fan of microstock, so being able to set my own prices and the fair 50/50 split are refreshing. However, it would be nice to see some sales.

it would be great to see sales but while micro stock lets people buy images for under a dollar it won't happen, made a handful of sales but i do not give my work away so just a handful

Thanks - Yeah I am with another small agency and consistently get sales at the .04 and .09 cent level - yes 4 cents. So if I was to sell just one on P5 at say $40 that would equal 1000 sales! Crazy eh?

My advice would be to stay away from microstock agencies. They have basically wrecked traditional stock photography.

Well, the agency I am with is not a microstock agency, but, they sell to microstock so the result is the same. Once a month I might get a good sale.
