Sales vanished?

Hello everyone,
I have been a member here for probably over a year now. I have two music tracks that have been selling pretty well. (At least for me.)
I was getting used to a pretty steady stream of income. Almost every month these two tracks would give me around the same amount of money. One of them would sell every 1-4 days. And this happened consistently for several months. I'd check once a week, and there would be sales.
And now suddenly it has been 23 days since a sale, which is very inconsistent. I was wondering if anyone here thought that this was just a coincidence, or if there is some system that makes files stop appearing as often after they have been around for a while or something.
Any thoughts? I do miss the income... Haha.
I appreciate the help!

P5 changes the search algorithm on a regular basis. We all have files with great sales that suddenly stop and others then start to sell. I guess with 8 million photos and nearly 2 million footage and large portfolios of music and noise there needs to be a "slight" shakeup once in a while. It does get discouraging when sales are so consistent then stop suddenly. Good luck.

I appreciate the response. It's understandable certainly, but boy is it disappointing! Lol. Thanks for the info though!

I have noticed a drop in sales, but until my portfolio gets better and bigger I think its normal.
7 sales in may, 15 in June, and so far 1 in July
So not vanished but pretty close. Guess I'll just have to work harder.

July is slow for everyone right now... And the algorithm change isn't verified by them, it's just our conspiracy theories

Don, Where do you get your information? How do you know that P5 changes their algorithm? That's total nonsense.

Andy where do you get your information that algorithms don't change. No one gave a date of any algorithm change, it has happened and will continue when P5 decides it is needed. Many others over the years and lately have commented on older clips having a surge then newer ones sell better. Not a day or two or a week or two but a trend. In a business like this a change of search results is needed to keep things shuffled somewhat. Stock is a roller coaster business but also easy to see changes when they occur; which are good. Yes indeed P5 has in the past stated in the forum that they test algorithm changes. Sales are based on the need of the buyer. Yes July is a slower month ... for some artists and definitely not all agencies. Remember last August when many artists saw changes in sales that were very much a switch flip. For me; I'm happy after the 4th July week that was expected to be slow ... now as your book states ... Shutup and Shoot ;)
.
Hope you are getting more great lightning clips, a good time of the year for you ... send some rain up here.

Just to help remind Andy ;)

Hi guys,
Just posted about this in another forum, but I guess the discussion is here :)
We are constantly tweaking and testing the search algorithm, and looking carefully at the results. At any given time, there are multiple algorithms being tested, and we are measuring which works best.
In general, our approach is "meritocratic" -- the best performing clips and the best performing artists are the ones that should float to the top. That said, there are other factors that we take into account, including the length of time you've been with us. We definitely do not want long-time artists that have been with us a while to be punished in the algorithm.
January was - once again - our BME, so things are working, and we're only just beginning. We recently brought on an expert in algorithm design (PhD from Caltech) who has been laying the groundwork for what we expect to be significant improvements. Stay tuned for more on that front.
As always, the best bet is to keep shooting and improving your technique, and to keep adding to your portfolio, making sure that clips are completely and accurately tagged. We definitely appreciate the hard work that goes into it on your end, and we're working hard on our end to get your work sold!

Well well... so you mention my book. If you read it, you would know how to actually monitor and adapt to the algorithms when they happen. And they haven't happened in quite a while. One could guess that P5 has been super busy building and modifying V2 - which in order to be testable needs to have consistency in any portion of the entire system. Hence an algorithm change may not be best suited to occur during such a process. But you are right and I am wrong as always. Papa knows best. - No lightning of any significance in the last several weeks. (Since July 6th actually) but I did shoot a Haboob for 4 hours:
