New Contributor Agreement

Hey P5 when I signed in I had to agree to an new agreement, no problem. Could you be kind enough to simply list what was changed in simple "artist" terms that we can all understand. All this legal stuff just gets confusing LOL.

Well this may culled out those who don't read their emails or haven't participated since "06"

There weren't many substantive changes to the agreements (Contributor agreement, and the Royalty-Free License). They include some additional language aimed at covering audio, and a more thorough treatment of the legal basics, just to make sure there's no ambiguity (our previous agreements were a little unclear on a lot of fronts). There's also a seat restriction in the license agreement (10 users max), which wasn't in the earlier license, and, as Mark pointed out, a request for crediting in productions where it's standard.

Also, all sales go to Jake's account. j/k :)

OK, what is a seat restriction ... I guess I need to read the agreement since we all gave our profits to Jake without knowing it.

I understand that the Pond5 lawyers are charged with protecting the company, but there doesn't seem to be anything in the new agreement that adds to the value proposition for the artists.

The new agreement is nearly twice as long as the previous. It would be a shame if the strong legal language and implications of financial penalties for the artist scared away new contributors.

I logged in but can't seem to find the place to review and renew the agreement. Can anybody assist in guiding the obviously blind?

Time_lapse, I know the agreement is longer -- it's a more thorough document. But many of the changes are artist friendly, and there's nothing new that affects artists in a particularly negative way.

For instance, the ability to set the price yourself is made clear (language about this wasn't included in the previous legal agreement), as is the 50% royalty. In the end user license, we included a request for crediting of the artist, and some common sense limitations that will help protect your work.

Don, the seat restriction refers to how many people in an organization can use the clips in organization projects.
