Ok second grip on social networks, Facebook.
So now everyone is playing Farmville or Mafia so instead of using it as a communication or social tool, it's spammed by requests for help on the farm.
.
I guess it is good in that now we can see who are the "lazy" friends and family are who have no life other than sitting in front of a computer playing Farm.
.
What a society, the big companies have found a way to force more people into a brainless day of computer games.
.
Again it is getting almost impossible to read through all the junk and spam. I'm amazed at how many family and friends I've blocked and stopped the Farm from entering my home. Is anyone really getting a commercial value out of Facebook or has it started to get so spammed it's just no commercial value?

I don't do anything with facebook. some of what I send out on Twitter goes to my facebook page automaticly.
Unless I'm missing something, the only people that can see what you put on facebook are people that you "allow" in. That is counter productive since I want anyone to be able to read what I send out like on Twitter.
I use these things as a business tool for advertising, not personal so to me facebook is worthless.
Again, unless I'm missing something.

Facebook's original intent was for personal social networking. I'm highly suspicious of those who use it for business networking. I use it regularly, and when I think someone is trying to sell me something when all I want to do is see what my friends are up to... well, I get annoyed. Personally, I prefer to use LinkedIn for professional networking... because that's it's purpose. Since Facebook is designed for personal use, the information you enter in your profile is more about your personal life. I prefer LinkedIn simply because your profile is basically an online resume, and you can get recommendations from business associates and colleagues.

"What are friends for, if you can't make a buck off them?" - Bullwinkle to Rocky.
Posting footage to youTube might see some results. I have 3 commercial uploads there with over 60,000, 36,000 and 36,000 hits this year. I get lots of sales from the partial views of a longer video. I am thinking of uploading watermarked versions of video stock, with description to youtube, see what rolls down the hills...

Twitter has become completely useless. Everyone has automatic updates for every approval and sale from multiple sites ... no one reads that stuff anymore. If people would stop the auto stuff and make valid catchy comments more people would read about galleries. Same is happening to facebook, many stock agencies are starting the automatic update there and it will result in "spam junk" where no one will read it anymore. On facebook you can block most of the game type stuff, it sure helped to do so and get rid of it. I actually dropped a few friends because it looked like that is all they did was play Farmville or other junk.
On Twitter does anyone really think that if you have 1000 friends that anyone reads any of it anymore ... nope.

Facebook is nice to keep up with friends and family that use it for social networking. If you block all the apps you get spammed with, it's quite useful for that. For business contacts it's almost useless.
I'll admit that I play that farming junk while waiting for a render... but I delete all the messages after about an hour or so. If noone picks it up by then, it's burried under similar requests anyway.

I believe if you qualify to have a so called "fan page" then it is available for anyone on Facebook to see. They simply click on "Become a Fan". How to get a "fan page" I believe is based on how many "fans" you can get. But I just tested it and created one. Hence VaderVideo now has a "Fan" page. When I created it I created is as a "Visual Artist" category.

Go to the corner of the post and the Hide button will appear. Click it and you can tell Facebook to hide the game application. It won't show it again unless you tell it to show it. I've done this to a ton of those stupid apps that post on my wall about friends who's game wants me to know they found a lonely duck and need somebody to adopt it, or some such crap.

Hey French, I suppose I should make it public then for ya! Stay tuned - it's not public yet - still loading all the stuff that needs to be loaded.. Got a bit sidetracked today and didn't get anything done I wanted to. :)
