Is anyone using these two things together?
I had files rejected at another site for 'ghosting'. Here is what they said:
There is image ghosting in this shot which is apparent when viewing motion frame-by-frame. This may be a result of frame-blending or a frame rate conversion issue. In any case, please review your settings and once you have generated a clean version of the file, you may re-submit for inspection.
I think the issue is that I am importing as 30fps and exporting as 29.97 and premiere is trying to do some sort of frame blending...

Hey Don, sent you an email.
For those using the Mark II, when you import the footage into a project, do you set the project file to 30fps, and then export as 29.97 photojpeg?
Can you export as 30fps? I know people use neoscene, but I don't see the point of it since I don't have any other processor issues, just this ghosting thing... which SS and P5 didn't care about, but maybe they didn't catch it, or maybe it depends on the program playing back the video.
I want to get this figured out now before I do 1000 clips :-P

Why not just leave it as progressive? Use 30p - period. For quicktime use png or animation in the settings.

Yes... it needs to be 30fps! You cannot convert it to 29.97 or you will get ghosting! I just figured it out. If I set my project to 30fps, then set my export to 29.97 photo jpeg I get ghosting, if I do it to 30fps export, NO PROBLEM! Damn.

Now you know why I got the 7D 29.97 baby!! hopefully you'll get a firmware upgrade soon.

I am just exporting as 30fps. Don't see an issue or difference with that. I wonder if that will scare buyers away if it isn't 29.97, any thoughts?
BTW, when is the FW update supposed to hit for the 5d? anyone know?

Probably Premiere does automatically switch to some sort of interpolation and frame blending when the input and the output FPS differ, in order to maintain the exactly same speed and length.
You could try to turn that off, or use QTP and render your 5D2 original into an image sequence with 30 fps and then reencode the image sequence with 29.97 as if you were doing a time-lapse. Whatever method you use, the result should be a clip that is a fraction of a second longer but has the same amount of total frames. If you use tif images for the sequence rendering you don´t have a generation loss.
Cheers,
Stefan

Two words to end all the misery....
Neo Scene
converts to 29.97
IS has accepted everything I upload. I think the issue is they don't want editorial, not that they don't want anything.
