Timelapses

Might buy a camera soon and was wondering if anyone knows if these sell as well as they used to? cities, nature etc. or are there just too many up for sale on stock footage sites?

Well, there is a big market for famous place timelapses. I have made some sales with sky timelapses. I don't think that unless you're up at multiple sites or have a huge catalogue that you'll not make back a large investment soon.

I don't do timelapse for a few reasons so I don't have first hand knowledge but I think timelapse is like any other over done subject.
If done correctly and different than what other people are uploading you should do well.
Just don't start uploading a ton of timelapse clouds and expect many sales, I do believe that market is pretty saturated LOL

Still working on a time-lapse of a cockroach playing a beetle at chess. Problem is it take the beetle 3 days to move each piece...

dnavarrojr, you should watch the super super old stop animation about insects (the very first one I believe, made in 1912) called "Revenge of the Cameraman", found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIC0Sb6pLvI

And vision008: I started shooting stock video in November and found that timelapses sell well; my best selling clip thus far is a timelapse. But follow Jake's (kk5hy) advice and make your clips unique. Don't think that just because it is a timelapse it will sell well, you need buyers to choose yours over 10's, 100's, sometimes thousands of other similiar clips.

Exactly my point.
Do a search for timelapse clouds, over 12,000
search for timelapse cockroach, 0

do what other people aren't...

Which are the best cameras suited for timelapse filming? The HMC40 has a timelapse feature. Does any other camera has a similar option?

Seems a 5d makes a great timelapse camera.

Now this is the timelapse you guys need to do. Not many of these online.
