Photographing Perseid Meteor Shower

I plan to photograph a Perseid meteor showers tonight (12-13 August 2011) and need advice from the experts.
I'll use the Canon 5D Mark II, modified Canon 550D camera in IR light and Canon Powershot S5 IS cameras for this. All cameras will be triggered by Pclix XT remote controllers. ISO will be 800-3200, exposure time 10-20s, F stop wide open, lenses from 12 to 50mm. Sure all cameras will be fixed on tripods. Coffee, warm suites, spare batteries and memory cards are on the list. Cameras will be wrapped in plastic bags (just in case).

Only one more tip... aim the cameras in the right direction and keep fingers crossed. I did this last year and only caught 6 meteors. I was out there all night. This year no luck. We have overcast skies and very high humidity. Hence, the moisture in the air really causes a nasty haze. :)

The moon is full too. That hinders seeing the meteors as vividly. I do hope you get some awesome shots! Can't wait to see your work, Zygis! :)

Moon could be a problem but in the side where Moon will be moving there is a forest which (I hope) hide the Moon. Also in my place Moon is moving quite near the horizon.
Good news there is outside fireplace for cooking some food and keep small fire.
The distance from the spot to the nearest suburb of Helsinki is around 16-20 km and may be this will not destroy photos.

Yes, tonight is the ancient Jewish holiday of love, "Tou Be'av", the equivalent of Valentines day. Israelite virgins from the tribe of Judea dressed white and went to dance in the vineyards at night. Males from the tribe of Benjamin went to the vineyards and hunted those virgins to make them wives. This was possible because tonight is the warmest night in the year, and in addition the moon is full.

Beyond history: If you expose your camera for 10-20 s as you mentioned, you will not see falling stars in the final time lapse movie, because each star will occupy only one frame. The get the impression of falling stars, you need to locate the camera under a path of high flying airplanes. Each airplane will appear in 10-20 frames or half a second in the final clip, which is what you expect from a falling star. To get best results, bring with you a woman from the previous paragraph...

The main problem with the full moon is the bright sky. You might only see the brightest stars and meteors. I got quite lucky last December photographing the Geminid meteor shower. Tonight I will try booth footage (it it is possible) and some time-lapse photos. The weather forecast for tonight looks good, clear skies where I live in Sweden.
Even though the meteors origin from a point in the sky, they can appear all over the sky. If you don't have enough wide-angle lenses, you will miss some meteors. I hope to get a really bright one where I am pointing my camera(s).

I'll use the SIGMA 12-24mm 1:4.5-5.6 at 12mm in Canon 5D Mark II and Canon EF 24-105mm 1:4 at 24mm in Canon 550D modified for IR. I'll also take few video cameras with me.

Film your adventure. The clips may worth more than the meteor shower itself.

The sky was too cloudy, couldn't even see the moon...

In my location (~25km NW from Helsinki) also the sky was cloudy but about 02:00 local time it become clear. In addition to the full moon there was another problem - humidity in an air. I saw some few meteorites (much much less than last year) and satellites moving over the sky. Also there was a Morning Star (Venus) rising from the horizon and disappearing from the frame.
I upload images to PC and will check what can be done. Totally I got about 2500 RAW images from all cameras.
