Income down 75% since going exclusive!

Every time I see that someone deleted their exclusive account it makes me smile. Pond5 doesn't deserve the extra help. They have become such a horrible company.

I did not go exclusive and my sales are down 50%-75%.

I didn't go exclusive, I couldn't see how cutting off sources of income from other places made any sense. My sales are down by at least 50%, if I wasn't getting returns from the other sites I would be very worried right now.

I've just set up a second account to post new content under 'Exclusive'. I'm interested to know if it's worthwhile. I get the feeling it's not working for some ?? I get the feeling that buyers/producers have budgets and want to maximise their profit and will shop around according to that. They may see something nice in 'Exclusive' but will shop around for another clip that's cheaper. Keen to hear others views.

Over 3,000 in exclusive from early beginning. Three fast sales first of June. Nothing since then. Sounds like that was a very normal result.

Don @RekindlePhoto: I've long admired your work, are your seriously saying that as of the date of your post on 9/15 you had not had any sales of exclusive clips on P5 since the first part of June with over 3,000 exclusive clips???

So here is what I've had as far as exclusive sales. One on each of the following days. 5 May, 6 May, 14 June and 19 Sept. So yes it's been a real let down and very discouraging. The reduction of 20% royalty that exclusive we were told would more than make up the loss never happened. This 20% reduction has been devastating since I do this full time like many other Artists here who have felt similar pains. By Feb of 2008 I had 1,143 active clips here on P5 after starting in 2007 and been very active ever since. Prior to the exclusive program I had about 7,000 clips that were already exclusive on P5. When I moved these clips to Exc it was like completely losing over a decade of priority due to sales and longevity. Like starting all over as a newby.

Don, that's really sad. Respectfully though, don't you think some of the decline in sales is due to the sheer volume of content both here on P5 and elsewhere? When I first started shooting video in 2013 another major agency where I placed my work had 1.7 million video clips, now they have nearly 17 million video clips. While, to my knowledge, we have no way of knowing how many video clips are available on P5 I would imagine a similar growth in content and thus competition. I am pleased with the additional 10% commission since going exclusive here on P5 and higher prices I'm able to charge as well.
