I got the same email. The 1900 USD price is for HDR FX7.

Regarding the FX1000, I read that the video codec has great artifacts mostly when it comes to motion. Do you know anything on that?

I have not read anything on it that is not a preproduction model yet, thats why I interested in seeing some footage from a production model. Will have to wait a little while longer.

I guess we'll have to wait till november to what other controls the HDR-FX1000 has or hasn't. I see no mention of manual controls nor gain which makes a difference for those of us who like to shot with a manual setup.

Jake, it was HDR-FX7 that will be priced at 1999.00.

I see that but for a short while they had a typo on the website with the FX1000 as $1999. Should have ordered it then LOL

I read in the specs it does have full manual controls. I also like that it has the iris control as a ring on the lens. The FX1 has a small knob on the bottom of the camera for that.

The FX1000 doesn't have XLR inputs either if that matters to you?
Normstock 12 Sep 2008 10:02
Jake was right, I saw the typo thats why I said I couldn't believe the price. Then within 10 minutes they changed the price.

Seems to be fully manual as Jakes said, plus zebra bars.........XLR doesn't bother me. I'm looking just for a clip machine!!

You can't see the other side to know for sure if it has XLR inputs but if you go to BH and look at the front view closely, I see what appears to be an XLR release tab.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/459129-REG/Sony_HDRFX7_HDR_FX7_3CMOS_HDV_1080i.html , is this basically the same camera???

FX1000 is the consumer version of the new Z5, none of the Sony consumer cameras have XLR's.
The FX7 is the consumer version of the V1, the main difference being that the V1 will shoot progressive.

ginclearfilm, I just hate break your bubble but FX1000 is prosumer camera. While most of the sony prosumer cameras have XLR some have two while another might have one. Then there are a few that have mini stereo inputs. When in douht read the specs.
