V2 far from ready for prime time

We'll aim to get this version stable and then we'll optimize it and remove/redo the most sluggish parts.

Many of you have expressed a wish to have the checkerboard back. Of all the usual web formats, only one of the flavors of VP6 will honor transparency. But VP6 was abandoned after Google purchased On2 so we have to leave it. Really.

Instead we'll try to pay some lad of a command line encode to make insertion of checkerboard into the preview video possible. There are also plenty of artist annoyances like ignoring exif rotation that we'll fix.

Gary also pointed out there are missing links too. We added artist resources as it was most critical. The others will follow. Expect a lot of progress with v2 the next few weeks.

Carl & Farsad just finished the ridiculously large bin causing performance problems bug.

Cool... I know we are dealing with dependencies of third party software reg the checkerboard. Maybe there is a simpler way to announce that there is an alpha channel on a clip. For example - 32 bit depth, or RGBA or something of that sort? Just something to make it stick out. Maybe even a category that titled Pre-Keyed Alpha Channel or Chroma Key.... the key is the term "Pre-Keyed". That way it won't get confused with alpha mattes and so on. Just an idea. :)

Just an FYI back to the P5 tech team.... the loading now is awesome. Even on an old 32 bit system. Now that's great progress! :)

I can open and read messages but I cannot reply, that is I can open the reply message window but I am unable to type inside that window. I have to copy all the text in a different application, write it there and then copy and paste it back into the message window.

In the forum "general discussion", there is a fairly active post called "Hot Off The Press - Freshly Uploaded Today". I see that ODesigns has just posted to it but no matter what I try I cannot see the latest posts. It is showing PerJohan's last clip from a few days ago.
Looks like V2 has a problem getting us to the latest thread on a big continuing post.
I'm browsing using Safari. I haven't tried a different OS or browser...

I see the same issue. Yes, one can not see the latest entry. Probably due to db updating delays and/or priorities at hand. The other thing that is an issue is that regardless of topic or forum, it takes one to the first entry instead of the last entry. My guess is these are no super priority issues right now as the more crucial things are being handled. I for one will wait a while as I assume there is a list of priority fixes and other things will be maintained/repaired/made functional first. :) Oh, and I am on Chrome.

Update: Just tried with original version and it does come up. Hence, the assumption is parallel databases for testing or something of that sort. I also noticed that new approvals are taking quite some time (more that 24 hours) to show up in the portfolio. Ah... growing/upgrading pains. :) However, the new approvals do show when I review my own uploads in the "Uploads" section where one edits/submits etc..

I'm not sure I understand the 'popular tags' part in the new Profile, can you adjust this yourself? For me they seem to be the keywords of my last approved clip and don't correspond with the average clip in my portfolio at all.

The 'Downloads' are, like wheijnen also says, a bit confusing. They are the number of clips I have downloaded? Overall the site looks like an interesting improvement. I love the larger thumbnails!

@wheijnen That's exactly what downloads mean (the number of clips sold) and if you noticed that number is grayed out. Also those download numbers may be incorrect as I find mine off by two so you might check them yourself to see if they match up with your sales.
