Ooops the UK new law will make it easy for homes and business to block sites with porn. We don't want to become one of those sites.
http://www.businessinsider.com/british-porn-register-filter-block-internet-providers-2013-12

"British households as a new law goes into effect forcing every web user to choose whether they want to be able to access porn on the internet — and then register that choice with their internet company."

"The new law, passed by Britain's ruling Conservative government, is intended to protect children from accidentally coming across sexual material on the internet, and to generally ward off the "hypersexualization" that many Brits believe has overrun the country, not just in terms of adult entertainment but in marketing and media too."

"The actual filter requires users to select from one of three "levels" of internet censorship: strict, moderate and light. The Telegraph notes that the choice over sexual material is mixed in with choices over gambling, violence, smoking, and social media:

Those who opt to switch on the parental controls will have to choose between three set filter levels – strict, moderate and light. All three filters cover pornography, 'obscene and tasteless' content, hate and self-harm, drugs, alcohol and tobacco and dating sites.

Moderate and strict also block sites featuring nudity, weapons and violence, gambling and social networking; strict also blocks fashion and beauty sites, file-sharing, games and media streaming. Additional websites can be added to the list manually to be allowed or blocked.

Here is what they look like. You can see that BT's filter forces some odd choices. The "light" setting blocks "pornography" but allows "nudity":

Nudity is considered Moderate. Do we want to take a chance on losing a big part of the UK market? This is happening now, again right or wrong why take a chance?

We fought a war to separate from GB. I heard a definition of "inappropriate" on the tv this morning and it went something like this "If I don't like it, you can't have it". Now for a shameless plug.
This will be band, drinking, gun violence, robbery, gambling. Europe and the prudes will have to go back to watching the radio with the volume off but that should be their choise. Most people are happy if government leaves them alone. So if Pond5 has to scrub the site of all these taboos then it's back to pictures of ducks and flowers and no editorial.

The UK law surprised me, generally England and Europe are far more open to nudes in newspaper print and TV. Heck ya can't hardly walk through a forest park without seeing naked people running around or XXX in England. I had heard that the page three nude girls in the newspapers have gone away also. Many people have a perception that Brits are prudes ... not hardly. After living there for several years it's an urban legend. They flock to the forests, laybys and foreign beaches to run naked in nature ... LOL. hummmm I wonder, if a clip here in the US has a person smoking does it have to have the required warning of health problems in the description? All marketing for cigarettes now must have the required notices. .... just joking ;).

Good stereotyping :-)

Can I play this game? All Americans have at least 20 guns, have a stars and stripes outside their house on a flagpole and think the World is America, that place down south, America light up to the north and then the rest of the World. Oh and of course they all drive SUVs that do 3 miles per gallon and think eating in at McDonalds is "fine dining"

;-)

OH and Page 3 is not nude, just topless and still continues!

My mother was British and when visiting family in England my uncle described himself as a conservative I didn't follow with questions because he was a conservative in a Socialist country. Though we both spoke English the words don't alway mean the same thing. When my cousin wanted someone to, "knock her up", she was speaking from the English point of view.

Back to the point, how do all these great filters work? Does the tv/ computer monitor scan the movie or does the supplier have to go through all the movies and clips and supply different versions? Government makes great laws without the law of unintended consequences being considered. OBAMA CARE!

I don't stereotype because everyone can't handle the truth about how everybody acts.

:)

@theEngineer: Here is my report card

Guns:0 (actually one BB gun)
Flag: 0 (to my shame)
I think the world is: Whatever Walmart says it is
SUV: Mine gets around 23 MPG
McDonalds: I hardly even consider it dining, let alone fine dining. For fine dining, I go to Chick-Fil-A.

:)

This is funny, love it. I've lived in dozens of countries and loved everyone one of them, especially the people when ya get away from the big cities and government influences (and the government in every city or country is people ... our brothers, sisters, parents, cousins etc). Some of my best friends are not American and some real jerks are definitely American. I don't have 20 guns ... maybe more ;). I don't have a SUV but I do drive a big F-350 crew cab pickup truck and it gets a pretty good 14 mpg when I drive careful;). I do fly the USA flag along with the USAF flag in my front yard with a light on it at night ;) I hope everyone has pride in their own country and tolerance or better yet love for all mankind and all nations. Great to see the page three girl is still alive and well ;)). And I do eat at McDonalds when I'm hungry and on the road ... not as much as I used to ;). So yup TE ya got it right. It has nothing to do about where we live, it has all to do on how we live. Picking fights about plastic cameras versus higher quality weather resistant is petty and immature. Taking the higher ground in business and personal life is always the best, safest and most profitable way to go. P5 has always filtered full nudes and has stated that they will continue, with programming and error some slipped through and it's being fixed. We should all be grateful that P5 came along and has been so successful as a stock agency. Disagreements will always happen, personal fights is so unprofessional in any business. Statement of facts are always good. Belittling is always petty.

So yup a lot of us are red necks, drive big trucks, fly big flags, use a lot of gas and enjoy hunting and blowing things up. Sure hope the US and UK can stay friends, we needed your help with the French when we were getting started and you needed our help with the Germans ......damn now I probably insulted the Germans and French with old history ;)

Hopeful we all are here at P5 to help it and ourselves grow, doing the best in business decisions and not personal desires. Stating fact but nor arguing over semantics. Loved living in the UK for three years and in Australia for six years. A lot of great British culture throughout the world. Hey TE all my ancestors are from England and Scotland ... a short 150 years ago ... we might be related ;)

stereotypes exist because they are true :-P

Don, I wouldn't worry so much about the whole site being banned because of the video content on the front page.. highly doubtful. What if the number 1 selling clip is the nude woman running on beach? should pond5 not post that?

My report card:
gun: just my 2 arms
Flag: My hair flowing in the breeze
I think the world is: round or flat. 50/50
SUV: I drink Gas.
McDonalds: I'm lovin it long time
SlimmPickens 7 Jan 2014 17:38
Little dense, I wasn't sure who you're after. I borrowed the guns, drive a 4 banger Jeep, love to visit England, been to Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Canada, and always found the Empire to have a little more class over many of the other countries I've been to. I make it a rule not to judge the country I'm in at least out loud while I'm there. The people of the different countries make them the way they want and I am free to leave at anytime.

The terms " redneck and good ole boys" are meant to belittle and worn as a badge of pride by those it's intended to put down. Of coarse this tells you that neither side understands the other. The tv highlights many of these people and characteristics because they are colorful and makes good television and they like having fun.

On fast food, it's been over a year and a half since I've had anything but a soda from any of them. The flag flies on holidays.
