@DirtyStringsMusic what genre was the track you sold for $100? I've always had the feeling that pop-rock tracks would sell for more than orchestral stuff, I hope I'm wrong though.

I raised my prices to $50 and sold a couple of tracks but that's it. I decided to go back to $30-$39 where I seem to have more views/adds. There's certainly clients willing to pay more, the question is how many?

Keep us updated.

i sold a track at $90, ukulele stuff optimistic.
that was all my music sales for about a month.

i was kinda demoralized, if you look at my current prices.

im thinking of proposing a week in which all of us
make are prices say $50, for all music.

we plan it, we make everybody know, and we do it.

and if in that week it turns out ok, we stick.

but it's a hassle organizing it, and who will agree with me?

i thought high priced sales will even out low prices multiple sales at some point.
but, i found officially from p5 staff that sales bring more sales.
so it's better to have multiple low priced sales than one single high price, because one
sale cant bring you more sales, but 5 of the same clip will quickly lead to some more.
i think.
mixed feelings about this. i too am in a conundrum.

yes, the ranking stuff.
yes, we sell short.

what can we do?

i started a price experiment in a thread,
i made music $90, sfx $10.

the sfx worked well, the music sucked.
one music sale in a month or so.

that was not very profitable, im telling you.

if im the only one raising, im gonna "suffer",
we all have to do it. hut how can you convince all?
90% of the contributors dont even check the forums :(

at the point where i made my music $90, i had about
400 clips, including edits, loops, intros, sfx. many of them
were there for some 6 months.

i just dont know how we can make price higher,
the mass, the majority, doesnt want to risk,
and they dont read forums.

we all have to do it.

like settling for one week of high prices, for testing,
but all of us, not 8 ppl or so. :(

arghhh...

Yes, all music contributors have to raise their prices for it to work. Another factor is that many aren’t registering their work with a PRO; that might motivate someone to purchase the work of a non-PRO contributor first. If someone doesn’t find the race to the bottom acceptable; I say hone the skills and go for exclusive deals and submit less to the RF market.

Having just sold a film license on AJ ($306 for the buyer), it makes perfect sense for me to raise prices. I think I have the same track up for a lot less here. They really need to consider a multiple tier structure here on Pond5.
