Hear me out. Please

very true words from all but especially AAAMediaMusic. I just had two tracks rejected for the first time today because "we have enough similar music" yet I thought they were ok. I had always thought Pond5 were a little quick to accept and there were too much music to choose from, but it seems a little unfair that i only have 35 tracks and lynnepublishing have 31,269. If it is a non-exclusive library then it becomes a business strategy to flood every non-exclusive library and remove all other artists. Is this the people that were requesting the rights to other peoples music, pirates or a bunch of very busy people? How did Pond5 review over 1000 of lynnepublishing tracks in one day or are they just accepting what they do? Unfortunately it seems the small artist will be removed and AAMediaMusic is correct in the assumption that within a year the pocket money earned from Pond5 will be no longer a viable option. A little of topic and I apologize for that.

i think ultimately this can not do well for the audio section of Pond5. If they are flooded by other exclusive libraries - will they not just become a page for linking to those sites? If other libraries are selling everything here and advertising the fact (here) that they are another library, then to avoid the mark-ups in price ultimately the client/consumer/buyer will go directly to such libraries to avoid the mark-ups. In the end Pond5 suffers. I agree with RealGuitars that the site may go the way of PTrax. After a year I cancelled my account at PT and the site (especially forums) was basically dead. I wonder if this discussion deserves its own thread. I would like to see some comment from Pond5 staff but I think i can guess the response. Along the lines of business is business.

Lynne Publishing (which is Shockwave-Sound) is also now on Motion Elements, which is a Singapore based micro-stock site like Pond 5. They have 31,388 tracks there and are a front page featured artist.

I think it's likely that some deals have either already been made or are in the works and the direct submissions from musicians will eventually be discontinued. Chances are very good that we will have to submit through an affiliated library, which could be Shockwave-Sound. That's already the case with Shutterstock, where you have to submit through Rumblefish, and Getty Images purchased Pump Audio to handle their music as Getty Music. It's just a matter of time. I don't think it will be a bunch of exclusive libraries piling in, just one and we'll be forced to get into it or be shut out completely.

The thing is that these places have no music without composers. Things are in transition and we should start thinking about how to leverage this to our advantage and avoid being exploited any further. That means demanding better deals or requesting buy-outs with upfront payments and refusing to go with a flow that turns us into paupers looking for scraps. In my current opinion, it's looking more and more like it won't be long before non-exclusive deals with RF music libraries won't be worth the non-existent paper they're not actually printed on. I'm looking for buy-outs now.

For what it's worth, I sold tracks to Shockwave-Sound not long ago and they are not posted here under Lynne Publishing (yet). Perhaps only some of the music is coming here. Shockwave-Sound was voted number 1 by reviewers at Music Library Report in terms of how they work with composers and they are not an easy to please crowd of readers. My deal with them went very smoothly and I will continue to submit tracks there.

33.000 tracks now, but only about 40-50 with at least one sale (order by sale and get a look)
their bestseller has 2 sales...
I wonder how they will perform through time... :-/

Here's another possible sign that this is a new direction for micro-stock sites with music. Revostock isn't accepting music and according to it's blog, stopped accepting on or about Dec 4, 2013... nearly a year and a half. I've checked from time to time and I haven't seen it open since that blog posting. The blog states it's due to an overload on music, but I would think they should have caught up with the processing by now. Perhaps they're looking for a library partnership, or waiting for one to be finalized at this point.

Livingroom - Please follow the forum guidelines and let's be civil here. This is just a discussion. I've responded to your remarks privately.

In any event, the original discussion is related to the sale of 13 tracks on a site as large as Pond 5. I think some good points were made that the original poster found helpful and we've gone far off topic. My last post was actually supposed to have been following up on a different thread and I'm going to have to apologize to the original poster for that error.
