New computer ... XP or Vista?

Definitely XP!!!

Ok, not sure what is causing API Failure. After processing clips in Premier Pro CS3 and I start the "export" to .mov P JPEG (yes I know what settings to use LOL). When the export gets to about 98% it stops and I get a small window that says "API Failure". If I click the window PP CS3 is ok and runs normal until exporting again.

What do ya'll think Vista problem?. Of course everything is new installed including Quicktime Pro. Is it an integration problem between PP CS3 and QT? ANy suggestions?

Ok ... after several hours I now have XP back on. Vista had too many issues with Premier Pro CS3. Now I have to reload everything again .. what a pain.

Don, computer guru at the shop has been using windows 7 for a month and said it's much faster than either Vista or XP. Should be out soon.

Ok update. now don't think it's a BVisata problem. After the re-install of XP I still get the exact same errors on exporting from Premier Pro CS3. When exporting to . MOV P JPEG it gets to 99% then gives "API Failure". I've reinstalled Quicktime and also the Adobe Production Suite; same thing. Also when starting Adobe Bride before it opens a message says the "application requires and Intel Pentium 4, Celeron, Core Duo or Core2 processor or the application will perform badly". Of course this system has all the requirements and more.
Also PP CS3 will not show the video of .AVI clips. This has really got me scratching my head now. It's not a Vista problem it's program setup and integration I think. Dang!^*&%$^^

Don Go microsoft and download windows 7 to see how it works. It's only going to be up short time before they start to nsell that product.

I just re-installed XP and all the drivers. Now need to re-install the Adobe Production suite. I have a free upgrade to Win 7 coming when it's released.

I think the problem was or may still be integration between Premier Pro CS3 and Apple QT. When PP exports to QT P JPEG it actually has to use parts of QT as I understand. The API failure is shown when this working together fails. I have no idea why after clean installs it still API failed. New system and lots of HD space. We'll see in a couple more hours ;)

Well, knock on wood. I have have my vista problems solved. I downloaded a new beta video driver from Nvidia for my card and rendered a music video I shot yesterday.
Yesterday it kept crashing as soon as I pressed render. Today it finished.

Yup, not a Vista Problem, darn, I should have left it on ;). Dell, Microsoft and Adobe were little to no help.

Sooo, For PP CS3 to see .AVI files it needs an outside decoder. So when I re-installed Neoscene and Neoscene player that gave PP the drivers it needed. What a stupid simple fix. ANyway so far. I only just prcessed and exported one clip but it worked, fingers crossed. So leason learned ... PP CS# needs a lot of other software to help it work.

Incredible still getting Premier Pro CS3 "API FAILURE" when exporting to QT P JPEG at the very end of exporting. I just can't figure this one out.
