New Sony Camera

Which Sony consumer or prosumer camera has only 1 XLR input? Never heard of that before as I believe there are always 2 XLR connections on Sony prosumer camcorders. The FX1, FX7 and FX 1000 all have built in microphones as well as a 3.5 stereo input which is not a very secure way of getting audio in to the camcorder but not really a problem if you are only doing stock video.

I guess when people buy equipment, the more features there are the better. It gives a reason to upgrade. I agree that for stock clips I don't need XLR, I would like to shoot progressive and interlaced.

The easy manual controls, like focus and aperture rings, the ability to mount a cost effective 35mm adapter and a sharp lens with excellent low light capabilities.

So Sony and Canon are front runners, I like the Panasonic, but can't afford P2 media.

birkley, It was HVR-V1U bh had it listed with one XLR but I checked with sony's web site and that camera has two XLR's.

Also note that Sony's Prosumer's like FX1, FX7 if there are any issue with the camera it goes to the 'consumer service dept' not the 'professional' dept like the Z's. Makes a big difference in turn around time. As birkley mentioned I haven't read all the specs of every Sony camera but I believe they all have 2 XLR's.
Don't get me wrong the cameras will produce the same quality image and depending on your needs may well be better as the money you will save can go to all important accessories.
