Can't say I'm surprised.
People asking $25 for good quality clips just to beat the competition? They are actually beating themselves but don't realize it. Your work has become worthless, something to bargain with for pocket change.
You might say this has nothing to do with it but to me it has everything to do with it. If you don't value your own work you will drag yourself and others along in this race to the bottom! It doesn't matter if you can live from $500 or have to make $5000 to get around, eventually we will all be affected.
To me the only way forward was Adobe but after I received $2.80 for a clip recently I removed my (very small) portfolio and went exclusive here. To be honest all this is not a big issue for me since I don't sell anything here but I've seen some very high quality portfolio's here that require lots of skills, gear and time and that must be hell (yes we are way past dissapointment)

You can't win when most people still have that "oh but some money is better then nothing!" mentality, especially in this market. Some think if they upload even more they will make up for it. Others think by people leaving they will get all the sales. And yes eventually it will be your turn no matter who you are. I've seen many successful contributors come and go. Too many people are still living this microstock fairytale.
Only way is down folks and not by a marathon but a sprint!

Good luck!

I deleted my images and videos from IS after GI acquired them. I deleted my account from SS after their new agreement. Now I have to delete my small portfolio from P5 too!
Dear CEO of P5, Why don't you ask us to contribute some money to acquire SS? You had millions of contributors on P5. I am pretty sure that P5 contributors will all help you happily.

If I had to venture a guess - I'd say the venture capital firms that injected $$$ into P5 a few years ago decided it was payback time. Only way was to sell P5.

I rather upload my footage to YouTube than uploading to Shutterstock
StockMasters 11 May 2022 15:23
Please advise how to cancel exclusivity. I'd rather make no money from stock assets at all than support SS again.

"The future is bright", what a joke, how can you talk to your contributors and partners like that ? You're joining gangsters and you're proud of your move ? Selfish will finish as rotten fishes. SHAME.

in answer to creatus, well he is 100% right people trying to undercut the market has made the race to the bottom steep, companies will then see people will accept peanuts and we are then cut to bits when it comes to earnings, I know of people on a print on demand site that set their commision at 5% throw in an affiliate and they earn 3 cents for what is a good design, the customer is laughing and these same cretins admit they are top sellers on the site but still keep it low because basically they are morons. I see aviation images on here that are high quality being sold for a couple of dollars... have pride in your work people.

This has zero percent to do with how individual creators choose to price their clips, and 100% to do with corporate greed and rewarding investors.

That being said, if there were any correlation between pricing and this gut-wrenching merger, those that OVER-price their content likely hurt Pond5 in such a obviously highly competitive marketplace. But how about we let people price their own content how the believe is best, and focus our vitriol towards the companies that just ruined everything we all worked so hard to build. Some of us for over a decade. This is the beginning of the end. The saddest day I've ever seen here.
