how much do you average per month (this year) ?

I guess I need to clarify, that for a simple little 45 second music box piece, I am not going to put the price up too high, but for an orchestral track, I may put it up higher, somewhere between 40-90 USD.
I think for that particular track (music box one), I have found the perfect price.

Hmm.. Very slow december unfortunately, anyone else experience the same?
ErickMcNerney 11 Dec 2014 07:44
It's slower than last month, but I am still having steady sales. It's strange too, almost all of my sales seem to occur in the middle of the night. 8 sales so far this month.

To your credit mv, you only have a handful of tracks. So you are probably getting better sales than me in proportion to your number of tracks.
dopestuff 12 Dec 2014 08:53
Yep, slow here, sold 25% less than in november..

Oddly enough, december is being my best month so far. It just means I'm having steady sales, which doesn't happen every month.

By the way, is there any other marketplace worth it? I only get sales on pond5, very little on AJ (I stopped uploading there) and literally zero on a few other sites. Do you guys make profit elsewhere?

I'm wrapping up my second full year here. November has actually been my best month, in large part because I have a couple of tracks geared to the Christmas holiday that do very well. Last month was about 4.5% off the year before, and if I had to guess I'd say December is shaping up to be similar.
I started out at the low end of the pricing spectrum here because I felt my earliest work did not compare to some of the better-produced material here in terms of sound quality. Over time, I've invested time and money in an attempt to improve the overall quality of my product, while slowly trying to move upstream from a pricing standpoint. I've had a couple of the higher-priced items in my portfolio sell, and I've been able to raise prices on some of my in-demand tracks.
I have tried selling in a couple of other marketplaces, but have been unable to generate much business elsewhere. I plan to research other options going into 2015, but I'm not sure how many there are.

yeah, imagine if pond5 would collapse. we would be left with all those penny making sites.
i have some less sales on productiontrax and themusicase and even less on other, but
they just dont compare with p5. it's a monopoly.

my sales are 99% in the middle of the night too,
which i atttribute to the fact that most clients are from u.s.a, and im from europe, so they're at work or awake when im sleeping.

it seems europe doesnt buy from p5 that much, mostly americans do.

Audio wise November was stunning, December, very poor. We've only been here a short time and pulled some of the earlier works to rework and re-release. We do well here and AJ has been kind to us too. Have a batch of new tracks which we'll release into the flow one at a time. On sales, I think you'll find that sales occur and then the system cycles those sales (emails & payment process) at around 11:00am and 1:00am EST. All my sales fall into these times slots. I could be very much wrong, but i don't subscribe to the theory that sales are occurring always precisely at those times.

living room classics most of my sales or sale notifications pop up almost always between 11-1am as well so i think its just an automatic thing that occurs and adjust per time zone
