When?

SS sell HD for 159$, and IS for 50$, we should make it in the middle. Say 100$-. That is fair....

Sounds good to me.
But for that to work,I think it would have to start with a level playing field.
The problem I see is Pond5 would have to make the minumim price $100 (or at least something higher then $10) or it will just be a few people that will go back and change their prices.

That's why it works for SS and IS, everyone has the same prices.

A higher minimum price is the best way to go... $100 sounds fair if it is HD.... or at least $50...

costs of HD, especially solid state recording, is high when factoring hard drive storage costs.

50% of 20 bucks doesn't sound to good to me, since i'm Canadian, its even worst....

First of all SS and IS do not give you a choice. They set the selling price at $159 for HD and $99 for SD clips and you for efforts receive 30%. They also have low res for far less in both groups. There's also the pay out. If one your HD clips sold $159 @ 30% = 47.70 and you sell anything for months you're not going receive that money until you reach $100.00. Raising the minimum clip price at P5 would force artist from low balling clips to just sell volume. Graphic artists who low ball their product after spending hours at computer are just hurting themselves. Because the buyer probably made thousands using their background. Something to think about.

Well don´t forget the clips are RF, and RF should not be cheap since it is consider to be re-use again and again. For graphic artist is specially important not to give away their work for low. For travel videographer the cost is oil, hotel, food, car, time, hardware, software, etc etc..
The world is crazy, the cost of production is so high and people just do not want to pay. How we can support equitment supplier, like Sony, Panasonic, JVC, Canon and co.

Just a short FYI: due to the falling dollar and rising costs here in Germany I have adjusted the prices for my clips here at P5. Price range is now from $29 for a live SD clip or simple animation to $69 for complex photo based time lapse work. That is in some cases an increase of about 20%.

Since I represent about 9% of all clips online at P5, we should see this reflected in the average price for online clipes as well. ;-)

Just a small parenthesis for you who want to change your prices; the other day we added a "set price" option to My Uploads so you won't have to edit clip -> change price -> save.

I also added a cryptic search parameter so you can easily limit the search results by resolution; lineslt and linesgt.

Example:
If you in the search box enters
lineslt:720
...and press search you'll get all non hd clips (if you don't have clips in odd aspects like 9:16 instead of 16:9)

linesgt:719
...would show all clips with more lines (gt = greater than) than 719.

I could add checkboxes for this at the top if you want, but I want to try to avoid wasting too much screen space if possible.
