The truth is somewhere in the middle: the future belongs to mixed clips that creatively combine both CG and shot footage. It is true that someday, not very far, one would be able to make marvellous CGs by just drag and dropping but still that does not exclude shot footage.

i have no glue why adobe, autodesk, apple... still offer their products in so much languages. they have to know about and stop this! pls tell them. now!
and photorealistic cg will be available in realtime at your laptop - tomorrow!

i could'nt hold it any longer - i've wet my pant's (in CG;)

There are many people that believe an expensive camera will do all the work (especially at red)....not true.

A cg program will never do all the work either, there are too many specifics you have to control in CG. You can do photorealistic shots now, you just have to have the know how to tell the program what to do. It wont matter how advanced the CG program is if you don't know how to use it you wont become pixar.

Saying that a videographer just presses a button is like saying a visual artist just picks up a pen and draws. It's not the tools or technology but what you can do with it. Anyone knocking video has apparently never used video to tell a story. It's the story that matters, and the shot is one component.
