Minimum Pricing for 4k

I am sure that something called freedom of speech would protect you from pricing discussion legality. In the end, an individual decides to participate in the conversation and decides the price of their clips, within a minimum standard.

That sort of pricing is a road to nowhere in my opinion. I wonder how anyone can cover the cost of hardware and software at $10.

They dont. It's a hobby to them and if they can make their money back over 2-3 years on a piece of equipment they see it as a fun way to waste their time.

@ tiberio
Good point. I think people should at least raise their price according to Pond5 competitors, iStock and Shutterstock. May be Pond5 has another business idea (go public) in the future that is why they don't raise the mini price.
@ Mark William
I congratulate you if each clip of yours does sell MANY times, so as to justify your time and effort on doing your business. .
BTW: This discuss is not price fixing instead should be anti-dumping.

What is great about Pond5 is you can set your prices as you like. I do not consider myself in the same class of the majority of the shooters here. That is why my prices are lower as the quality is mediocre at best.

Let someone else view your portfolio Mark because in your mind your work is mediocre but it's far from it. Shutter Stock set their 4K footage at a minimum but contributors do not have choice in setting prices for their work whereas we do. All everyone in this thread has asked for is to rise the minimum HD higher than $10 and set a minmum for 4k which isn't asking to much and each of us still have a choice at setting our prices above those minmums. In on way do the discussions in this thread have anything to do with price fixing.
Mark have you ever checked out this page http://www.pond5.com/index.php?page=artist_stats_cached&time=week in artist resources?

Mark,
You may not consider your works are excellent, but don't damage the market by dumping cheaply, as we all have to survive one way or other. Take a look at Jason's link provided. High Price footage do sells. I sold Bird for $399/299. May be that is exception, I don't want to sell 40 times in order to get my share of $200 from my bird. (And it is not easy to sell 20 times neither!)
We live in a "free" world, but doesn't mean FREE. There are regulations and rules we need to follow in order to live in Harmony. This is what we are asking for right now, a guideline of raising the minimum price from Pond5. In fact there is already a guide of Video Footage-----istock and Shutterstock are both higher than Pond5. What is wrong here? Why they are not scare of losing customers and contributors? Do you get a clue..
All artists should raise their price to match the industry standard (iStock and Shutterstock) too. Of course this is up to you guys. I have no power of pushing anyone to do anything.
BTW What is so depressing here by Pond5 is, some artists don't think their products are good enough for higher than $10. Those are really miserable pessimist. Footage business will becomes another $1 one download until the industry collapsed.

Agreed, it is really scary that p5 sells so far below the industry standards. It would be damaging in any market place. I am not suggesting a massive increase, just increases to more reasonable standards, like maybe 40 for hd and 100 for 4k. It is clear that the majority support that.

I don't have a problem with the minimums that Physics mentioned as long as I can still set my price. What I do have a problem with is Pond5 members contacting me by email and giving me a "lesson" on pricing.

I do have a problem with members who are still promoting below Industry standard (40 and 100) !
Shutterstock $75- for HD and 4K for $229.
