Minimum Pricing for 4k

I agree, just trying to find a compromise with P5. I would support that change as well.

Mark I for one did send you a PM but no prices were mentioned. What I did say is your work was impressive but you were selling yourself short in so many words.

The benefit of setting minimums also helps limit the fear based pricing that someone else is going to undercut your sales. If the limit is a certain price point, you know that people are not going to shoot similar subjects and low ball their pricing. I am a big supporter of SS price points because the only deciding factor is quality and saturation of a subject.

My price fluctuations between 40 and 80 do not appear to effect the quantity of sales, that is when I price as 80, the same clips sells just as often. Sometimes even higher prices do not effect number of sales at all.

The low low prices are largely based on fear of other people setting low low prices, and P5 is really the only way to stop it.

By allowing artists the opportunity to set prices at such a low level, P5 is providing the opportunity for a race to the top, and then to the bottom. Unless P5 know better, the economic model doesn't stack up. With the current strategy, the cost of hosting and promoting the content, will inevitably produce diminishing returns that will effect the P&L to a point, to put it bluntly, that it is no longer viable. Shape up P5, you've got a good thing here, for things to stay the same, some things need to change.

If artists are uploading poor quality then it hurts everyone no matter what the price. Buyers don't want to wade through hundreds or thousands of poor quality photos, music, noise or footage. Looking at the artist resources the average price of HD is over $64.62. That should give most people a good starting point. If the average is over $60 why would anyone try to sell for less. Average in any pursuit is mediocre. Average is not a very high level to set as goal to meet. I would hope that most of us set a goal to be better than average in quality and hopefully price. Leading to an above average income or profit.

Footnote to above, this isn't about quality, that is down to the curators, this is about the economics of the minimum pricing of clips.

There now is a minimum price for 4K content which is a whopping $30...
Finally the 4K market is saved from low-price artists -_- not

Damn, $10 for a 4K video created with a RED ?
Going to take a lot of sales to pay for that camera.

That was before this minimum was set. Now you can't submit $10 4K clips anymore
