Current events clips

Anyone have luck selling footage of current events in America?

I am fairly close to New Hampshire and am wondering if it would be worthwhile to go up and shoot some of the presidential candidates, but was searching Pond5 and there didn't seem to be many, and the ones there weren't selling.

Of course it would mainly be for news/documentary footage as there would be no releases, but I assumed there would be greater demand for this type of footage, even if it is seasonal.

Thoughts?

Haven't they all said something stupid? At least there is only one Obama to say stupid things.

Yup, if you can get footage it may very well be worth the effort. And it will have almost a year of value and if you capture the one who wins the life span is several years.

Exactly as Don says - I think it would be worth the effort too. You never know what the candidate may go on to do in good and bad ways so there's definitely potential there.

For current news P5 is just too slow, even if you request an instant review which takes a few hours. I have never sold a clip which I requested "instant review" on the same day of the request or even days later. They have sold months later, so I just stopped asking curators for "instant reviews". I do not think that the daily news media shops here. I have seeing members using Youtube to try to sell current events. My latest sale was an "instant review" of a clip of President Obama's motorcade which sold 6 months after it was filmed. I do have a news bin with about 5 sales.
