How is the market and the criteria of other stocks ....

Hi fellows,
I'm new here as a contributor. I'm trying to get into the "stock footage" buzz. Until now I've been a buyer as I'm a video editor / producer and now I'm trying to become a seller. I now it is a long road to travel in but I'm just trying to make some money to help my home budget.
I've uploaded some clips and 3 of them (the same i put in the "Still in Review" thread) I also uploaded to iStockphoto. But I have to say, they are too bureaucratic and they have rejected 2 clips saying, despite other words, " Generally, we expect to see greater concept development and higher production values. We also discourage the use of camera movement … " but I've seen many clips there with lots of camera movements. I really don't now what are their criteria to judge … .
As someone here advise me to not stick with one stock footage company, as the old saying "do not keep all the eggs in only one basket", I would like some advice.
I've also notice that some fellows here are complaining about not selling clips for a long time. Is it really happening ? If is that so, why ? Is it a Pond5 problem or a market problem ?

Welcome to the seller side. P5 is one of the few agencies that will accept hand help footage. I suggest locking everything down with a tripod then you will have a much better chance at approval. I agree IS is the absolute worst process in keyword and describing, it just takes too much time to on our side and the approval time is far too long. There seems to have been a hickup here on sales for some artists in the last couple months, normally Oct-Dec are the better months as far as sales. I know P5 is working some changes and upgrades soon. Have a look at artist resources and you can see what high priced and high selling subjects are.

I just got a big back load of pent-up sales in my in box. They must have been on vacation. iStock is a pain in the butt, but consistently lucrative and worth the trouble financially if you can stomach the learning curve. Even with the low percentage, the sales add up. Take a look-see at my blog devoted to getting http://www.stockvideoseller.com. I think it has lots of things you might find useful.

It pains me massively to say it since I really dislike the company, the uploading process, the way they treat contributors but I continue to supply to iStock. If I wasn't already a contributor there for a few years I don't think I would bother but since I already have a portfolio (about 1/9 of the size of here at Pond) ticking over there I continue to throw a few files in their direction. Just as Terry says above the sales add up.

So if you've got the patience by all means give iStock a shot but it's a painful process. And you're right about exclusivity - avoid it like the plague if you can!!
