Mardi Gras 2012

Got back from New Orleans for Mardi Gras week recently. Got some great shots that are in the queue here.

Are you using the camera as a counter weight??

I had close to 25 lbs. of beads to bring back home. That's only a small portion of my stash.

Many many years ago, I did a documentary about Sydney’s Mardi Gras. It was fantastic! Two Chanel reporting live in the Australian TV and more than one million people was in the streets. Some questions about the New Orleans Mardi Gras:

How big is it? How many people are in the streets? Did TV-Stations reporting live?

Some other questions depend on another (rated) thread. In Sydney I saw a lot of nudity. Example: More than 100 lesbian woman on Motor-Bikes open up the parade, most of them are topless, some are totally nude. The parade shows also a lot of flesh. Is it the same in New Orleans? Did you also release it?

It was pretty crowded, but being it was my first, I had nothing to compare it to.

It was kinda chilly, in the upper 40s, so I bet that deterred some from coming out to the parades.

I sort of stayed away from the French Quarter after dark. Not really my scene. I hear that's where the real craziness happens.

what parades were those? I haven't been to a new orleans parade in a long time.. I got some shots of mardi gras in lafayette... wish i'd had the chance to get more.. i'll have to share when i get to those...

I don't really know "what" parades they were, but I do know they were plentiful on the weekend, often one after the other. And they lasted for hours.
