I dont know why you all are worried about talking about this in forums, I guess I am known for being slightly bold.

I have been inflating my prices more lately, expecially if they will only be on here, and they are unique etc etc. But if everyone uploads to every site, then P5 will forever be the discount location, but if you put expensive items here (that you cant get anywhere else) you will draw in more higher paying buyers. I personally don't see p5 as a store with one group of customers, I see it as more of a big Marrakesh type market where buyers look for specific things. Kind of like Deviantart.com. I think P5 will become more and more like Deviantart.com where buyers will have favorite artists. Remember the Diamond Cartels purposefully limit the number of diamonds in quantity to drive the price up. If you compete with yourself... artists will tend to lower the prices on the site that pays the highest commission.

I buy stills for various projects and often do so through IS. However, I have to admit to checking whether a specific image is exclusive to IS or not. If not, then I check several other sites like Dreamstime and Fotolia and I can often get a more photo resolution for less by buying from them. So you can see why sites encourage exclusivity.

As a contributor, mainly of video, I have some here and some at IS. I would prefer that people bought it here, better comm for me and I'm not all that keen on IS's corporate 'attitude'. I haven't taken my stuff off of IS though, not sure. I probably would if my stuff started selling better here.

I just feel if I spread it out I would have more of a chance for sales. Honestly, p5 is my money maker right now. IS I have had 9 sales with $50 total, Here 6 with $145.

More and more people are finding their way to P5 which is great. However, P5 needs to be the FIRST place people look for footage, not the second or last. That's what needs to change.

I've decided against listing on other sites, with a single exception of an EU site simply because the site has really good multi-language support for non-english speakers and they have a high level of traffic for the overseas market.

P5 needs to add multiple language support and basic support for monetary conversion over the next year or so to attract that crowd.

Did you post a question in the Creative Cow - Motion Graphics forum about stock footage? I was the one who answered your question and listed P5 and some other sites. Small world if so! Sorry I wasn't able to give you a better answer there.

Since I started doing stock video around the beginning of this year, IS has been making me the most money per month. The good news is that over the past 2 months (and especially since 7/15) P5 has been closing the gap and with 2 or 3 more sales here before 8/15 I would have my best month ever for ANY stock site right here on P5. I'm still pretty new to doing stock, but July was the first month I cracked the $300 in a month barrier (on IS). As of right now I've made $245 since July 15 on P5.

nine $50 plus clips sold here at P5 in last two days .... Way to Go P5 Team ..thanks, I need that and more due to this expensive move from Texas to Utah.
