Problem with create a widget?

I am unsure of how to go about creating a widget(and what its used for). I tried changing the default "my clips" to a 500 x 400 size and Nbr horizontal and vertical to 6 x 6. I also selected the high quality box and clicked submit. The resulting widget was very nice and the clips looked a lot sharper with the high quality icons turned on. I selected and clicked through to view one of the clips and it seemed to be better quality than previews I had viewed previous to this change.

But whenever I click back into the create widgets page(or my artist page) it has reverted to what I presume is the Pond5 default as well as unselecting the high quality box. I have tried it a number of times and it never keeps the selected settings.

So I have a number of questions(the help file/faq really needs a major update as there is very little of use in there) that I wouldn't mind some help with:

What is the main use of the Widgets? Are they only for the artists viewing pleasure?

Why aren't the settings I select being remembered?

Do these settings(especially the high quality icon) affect how other people viewing my icons would see them?

Do they affect the quality of the viewed clip or just the icon?

And at some stage i wouldn't mind trying to figure out what clip bins are all about and how you go about setting them up and linking them to your artist page!

Any takers prepared to try and explain it all to this old, widget challenged fool :-)

Widgets, widgets and more widgets... :) Actually these widgets would most effectively be used for interent marketing for your self and pond5. When you create a widget, it generates the code for you that you can place inside your website for promotion of your own clips. These widgets are neat "eye candy", look great and classy on a website or a blog. If you want to see examples of such useage, visit http://www.vadervideo.com or http://blog.vadervideo.com - Use these widgets as much as you can. It will help market not only your stuff, but the entire Pond5 community as well. We all need to pitch in and get lots of link backs to P5 so that this site escalates on the "PageRank" of Google and other search engines. It really is a nifty tool. - Hope that helps.

Thanks vadervideo. So it seems the widget creator is just that. . . a widget creator and nothing more. That would explain why the settings are always reverting to default. I am now informed; thanks again. BTW very interesting blog you have there. I read it all the way through and now know a lot more about how stock video works and the different options out there.

If you use the Pond 5 widget as the embeded version for your website is it automatically a referral link for the contributor?

Yes, if you are logged in when you embed the widget from pond5.

This can be verified by either:
• Click on a clip and see that &ref=username is in the url
• Check the cookies for pond5.com, pond_cookie_referrer should be set to the username.
