Hi Heather, thanks for the tip.

We’ll be launching a major advertising push in the relatively near future, and when we do we’ll definitely consider putting some ads up there. At the moment, though, we want to complete a couple major upgrades to the site interface and continue building up our library of clips, so we can make our advertising efforts as effective as possible.

Do let us know if you have any other suggestions for advertising venues, though... we’re working on a list of contenders right now. Any if anybody else has suggestions, please post!

great to wait until everything is perfect, but... on the other hand submitters without sales (like me) will get bored soon and drop this site. would be good to get going selling stuff.

April is generally a slow month.

Believe it or not, for both March and April P5 has made me more money than any other site. Just by a few cents, but still. And that's in beta mode with very little advertising.

But I agree, this site appears to be ready for the first big wave of marketing.

I agree with varius... in terms of "volume" you're just slightly behind the two footage micro stock big boys.... and if you're that close, it's time to get in the ring!! You've managed this many clips without huge marketing... imagine what will happen when you get out there.

Having said that, make sure you're done with upgrades if they impact performance. You want to come out "impressing".

Agreed! Once a buyer finds a place that they like to shop it's hard to get them to change. It's time to start marketing while buyers are still figuring out where to go rather than trying to get them to change from another site later on.

In terms of material Pond5 has got the goods to compete with all the others. In terms of website quality it has got the others outright beat!

We're (still) working on a number of big functionality updates, after which we'll be ramping up the marketing side of things. In the meantime, sales are looking good, traffic is increasing, and everything is moving in the right direction. So expect to see more of that with the expanded marketing effort, in the near future.
