What is going on with the new Pond5 Fees?

Just sold a $29 track and I got $4.09! WTF! That is brutal! Taking more than half is border line criminal. What is going on with Pond5? I'm seriously considering taking my business elsewhere.

@projectnero I agree beyond unfair to us, Probably a discount was used, as I sold a sound effect someone purchased with the business lic and only got around $7 which is crazy for a $49 lic I then found out that some discount was applied and I feel we shouldn't have that taken from what little we now make ... The pond should really be eating that part if they give a discount on something that we never gave the ok to discount in the first place.

NOTE: I am posting this for those who may not know, If you are not being notified that someone responded to your post, Click (View all posts in this forum) and then scroll all the way to the bottom, check the (Subscribe to this forum box) and then you should be notified via email. I bet most never get notified as they never knew to check the box, so they have no clue if they got a response unless they check back constantly on the actual forum they last posted to.

projectnero, are you opted in to the Global Partner Program or the Limited License Program (Account>Preferences)? That may explain your small cut, athough yes, it is at P5's discretion to offer discount if they choose.

Just checked and yes it looks like I am for both. That makes sense for the low payout. You guys think that's a bad move signing up for that? What is your opinion on the OPTIMIZED MARKETPLACE PRICING? Should I check that?

YES! Only if you like receiving pennies for your work. Not only does the partner take a cut so does P5 and you get the crumbs.

It makes no sense to me that Pond5 would undercut their own sales. They certainly want to make money but not by cannibalizing their own market. These are markets not reached via normal Pond sales, they insist. These sales are probably money you would otherwise not get, as in sales in China or Japan (language specific) or markets otherwise not competing with Google searches (my guess). There's no way to know other than taking them at their word. If it unnerves you, it may be better to turn off the option. I keep mine on. They are infrequent and I was also initially alarmed.
