Hotel Footage...royalty free or editorial?

Hello Everyone!

I'm Ricky and i have a question for you all, hope you can help me to solve my doubts!

I work for a company that produces 360° Virtual Tours for Hotels. Being often in 5* Hotels I see the opportunity to take some good videos to sell online but my question is: what if, i take videos of rooms, swimming pool, spa, etc etc.. without showing their branding logo, and sell those videos here on Pond5?

Do I need a property release?
If I dont, should I upload those videos as royalty free or editorial footage!?

Hope you can help me to sort this out because i have tons of footage from Hotels ready to be upladed!

Thanks for your help and have a nice day you all!

Ricky

The first thing you need to understand is that you probably or most likely don't have rights to the footage as you are working for a company that would in essence own such footage (known as "work for hire"). Even if you are the owner of this company, you would still most likely need to get property releases from the various hotels. However, to make sure that what I am saying is correct, you would be best off contacting pond5 staff directly via their contact page.

Hi VadarVideo

thanks for your reply!
I will write to the staff so and see what they say!

Just to clarify, Im not trying to sell videos that i shoot on assignment, i normally take photos for hotels and the videos would be shot only during my free time here at hotels. It's like I was on holiday in a hotel and take a video of the swimming pool and sell it.

does it make sense?
