Filming on Cuba

Next October we will go to Cuba for vacation and filming the country, the cars, rum drinking and dancing people, etc.

We shoot for shots for selling on Pond5, but if they ask us, we tell them that we are amateurs and that we film for our friends and family.

My question: Is it aloud to film with an Sony HDV FX1000e? We travel with an normal!
Do we need an journalism visa?

Dos anybody no if we get problems?

hello, we were shooting in cuba in march of this year. we had some reservations before going. we were at the end of a 5 month shooting trip around mexico and flew from cancun to havana. we decided to just go with limited equipment. we left our large tripods and lot of lens behind. we still had "pro looking" equipment, nice lens, a few bits of kit that might looked bit weird, like a panning machine for timelapse, however we entered the country without any problems on a normal tourist visa.


we spent 5 days in havana and filmed as much as we could. using dslrs for timelpase and video is probably less obvious than a larger video camera and we only had a few police coming up to us and asking what we were doing. we just told them we were doing some some photos. my girlfriend's big smile and spanish helped, and before long they were asking questions about how things were going in spain.

so as long as you are a bit subtle, you can probably get most of the shots you want.. there are a lot of photo snapping tourists wandering around havana!!

You can tell the police that you making photos, but we, with our videocamera, we can't tell that!
