Hey guys I'm new here and I want to make some suggestions for the developers of this website.
1. Use simple language (e.g reviewer instead of curator)
2. Place tool tips on everywhere (e.g there's a "reel" field on the upload form and i have no idea what it means, similary there's an add to bin option but I don't understand what to do with it because i have neither time nor intention to learn it by searching through the forums)
3. Make browsing easier by placing a simple in your face ajax menu for the new items, popular items, etc. instead of having to sort by a dropdown menu.
4. Instead of a generic waveform, use item thumbnails or author avatar on individual item previews.
5. Place a visible upload button on the header.
6. MOST IMPORTANTLY Update the category results regularly so that everyone can get some exposure. I have uploaded a track last week, it was approved but didn't show up on the category page when you sort by date uploaded. I thought alright probably the page is cached and it will update soon but it took one week for the page to update and when it did my track was buried in the second page so practically my track doesn't have any means of exposure and lies there with 0 views! How can you generate sales when nobody can even view your track?
7. In general, this site looks like a software program with losts of weird menus and options which you don't know what to do with them. When develeping a website, think about a ten years old kid, or 80 years old person who doesn't understand technology very much, or someone with very limited english as your audience. Everything should be very very very clear and in your face. This can improve sales dramatically.
