Check the laws where you live because it is different around the globe I imagine but if here in the states there is no expectation of privacy in public places, as long as you are filming from a public location, sidewalk, park, police station and so on. I have sold plenty of video with people in the video, their faces are visible but guess what.. these same people are also being filmed with cameras located all over the place in these public places and private places such as stores, roads, buildings, interior and exterior and so on, however even though most retail stores are privately owned it is still a publicly accessible place that is completely open to the public. In the states we have a first amendment protection of freedom of the press, no special badge is needed, in fact if anyone ever asks tell them to go get the Constitution book at a library and tell them that is your badge) . But this goes on and on.

I have often thought about the very rare possibility the people in my videos would somehow see the clip on the news or on the web or where ever. In most cases it is a 1 to 3 second portion of the clip so the odds go even lower However I am pretty sure these production companies modify the video to fit their needs and blur things out and such but the actual people in YOUR shots are incidental just like sounds on the vintage FM radio of a car passing for a brief moment in 2021 ;) These rules change in regards to YouTube and the social media platforms. They are agenda modified, strikes, copyright claimed or simple taken down and a warning issued. It really comes down to how the images are framed, the context around it. If you were intentionally filming someone and isolating them, I would def safe be careful with that.

That is my experience as I film mostly editorial. Hope it helped someone. GLWS

and one more nuggets for you, I also FOIA request interior, exterior and body cam footage from these same places where people were filmed. I can Freedom of Information Act that too,. I have done it a LOT, I even put the footage in my YouTube videos, it is public information, there are no protections for anyones privacy in public. In fact in anyone is conducting private business in public then shame on them because they are taking a chance.

It would be classified as editorial if any people are recognizable that's all.
