The new CEO and his money men will do whatever increases SS's bottom line and that will have nothing to do with what us as contributors want or think. It's a business after all. If, miracle of miracles, that truly does benefit us contributors our fears may just prove to be unfounded. Stay tuned

Shutterstock makes billions of dollars every year by paying authors cents. Guys, forget this nightmare. You've just been used and thrown away. They told you beautifully about the new platform, about the future, about growth, improving the store, and then they simply sold you as a product and made money from you. That's all. I deleted my portfolio in horror and I'm terribly disgusted. Now I told all my friends that the platform was sold to Shutterstock and that they should leave, everything that I recommended to them no longer makes sense. Now I'm sitting and thinking what to do with the files, how terribly let down Pond5.

I have material on both Shutterstock and Pond5. Less on Shutterstock because it doesn't do very well so I stopped putting material there and concentrated on Pond5 because it does much better selling my stock ftg. I don't like purchasing material from Shutterstock either because they have this process where you buy credits or tokens and you wind up with extra tokens you don't need.
I'm thinking if I take my material off of Shutterstock, do I still qualify for exclusivity on Pond5 before its $crewed?

i guess i ll personally have to wait and see.how this plays out cause i am an exclusive here. so far i have a portfolio under 100 vids and 2 sales.i am not as big as others here.if my third sale is like 24 p lol then i quit...i can accept that we sell our good pics for 10 cents or 25 p.but a video which costs more to make? no way hose

Regarding photos, I can't accept exploitative microstock pricing. If any of my P5 images become available on SS, I'm outta here. However, my guess is that this won't happen because there is already a lot of overlap between P5 and SS -- i.e. many people no doubt contribute the same images to both platforms.

I see the last post on this discussion was in May. What has happened since then? Have things become more clarified? I have not uploaded much in the last few years, but am thinking of adding a couple thousand clips. Reading this discussion it is giving me pause. It certainly would not be worth the time to tag if commissions go the way of SS.

Is there any talk of a Pond5 Alternative Start up?
