Low Commision

I noted the other thread where people have been receiving under 10 dollars for a video, when setting your own prices pond5 have set minimums with 4k you can not enter below $50 and under $25 for HD, this was set up by pond5 to prevent people setting a ridiculously low price oh the irony, although I have been on pond5 for a fair few years my contributions is small compared to others, I am full time selling images mainly, I live in England and watch lots of British and American documentaries, I estimate on the end credits there is Pond5 on around 75% of all I watch.

How do these ridiculous prices work does a multi billion dollar company phone up and say they don't want to pay 100 dollars for a video but will pay 12 instead and pond5 says yes ???, with increased demand the prices should go up or stay stable not plummet.

There is an entity in Britain that is news and creates documentaries these are syndicated around the world, so that 30 second clip in a 30 minute programme that costs 99 dollars is then making a million dollars or more and pond 5 then gives it away for $12 dollars it doesn't make sense, currently I spend 3 months a year travelling the world shooting mainly images and some video, so i can now sell an image on a mug or a t-shirt and receive more than a video, it's just crazy, I haven't as yet received a low price, but will have to pull my content if it happens, the time taken to upload a video and tag title compared to an image, is 30 times greater which makes it not worthwhile.

It's a crazy world we P5 contributors live in. We think we have control over our prices but we don't, PT/SS does. Maybe in the past we had some control but those days are over. PT/SS will do what they want and we have no say except voting with our feet
