Can not set categories anymore?

I'm new to Pond5, but I uploaded a few clips via FTP a few days ago and was able to set my categories.

I am uploading some more clips today via FTP, and everything is great -- except there is no where to select categories on the edit page. Am I missing something obvious or is the category input section really gone? If so, good riddance. I think categories are nothing but a frustrating waste of time since there are so few and so vague of categories.

I hope they're gone too. If you've got good keywords buyers will find what they're looking for faster than using categories. the left Categories of the photo edit page; maybe they got rid of it on the footage page as well. I'll be uploading more footage soon and hope categories are still gone.

the categories are going away, it will be tags/keywords only in v2.
(there are still some places where the categories pops up, but they will be gradually removed)

cheers,

Carl

Thanks for the reply Carl. I am very excited to hear categories will be a thing of the past with V2. So much time is wasted doing categories, and they are always such a stretch.

Of all the stock sites, Pond5 is really looking (to a newcomer) as the best option by far.

I've been saying for years that categories are useless. Does Google or Yahoo use categories anymore? Nope. If v2 does rid us of this extra burden, then hopefully other agencies will eventually see the light.

Many other agencies dropped categories a long time ago.

Carl stated; "the categories are going away, it will be tags/keywords only in v2"

does this mean description is also going away?

I hope descriptions go away as well. Nobody sees the description unless they click through to see details. We already know how few views we get. Descriptions are extra work with little payoff.

@RekindlePhoto: only categories are going away for now. Description stays as far as I know.

cheers,

Carl

Some agencies don't have descriptions, descriptions give location, people, event for a better idea of who, what, where and why. I believe good idea to keep descriptions for buyer awareness.

Just never never ... never move towards the submitter BS that IS has. Keep it simple, fast and to the point.
