Hi, as the subs model = c $1, does anyone have any experience of PRO income as a result of Pond5 sales? Its hard to justify spending much time adding to the P5 catalogue based on $1, but maybe the PRO potential adds value?

What is PRO income? And you're right, $1 is an insult

PRO is income generated via PRO collections (eg BMI, PRS) eg your cue is used on a TV show, the TV show has to submit a cue sheet to PRO (and P5 I believe) and you accumulate royalties via the PRO collections. I think my question is to those that use a PRO for their tracks ... does this actually happen via Pond5 sales that are marked as PRO (for me BMI). The $1 is clearly a waste of time unless you are selling thousands and I seriously doubt that's happening (happy to be corrected here btw), so unless there is a decent amount of non-subscription purchases as well the only other hope if that the PRO trickles through royalties.

Tracks should be registered with a PRO regardless or you could possibly miss out. And yes, I had three tracks licensed from Pond5 that resulted in back end royalties. One resulted in a four figure dollar back end royalty payment for a national TV broadcast commercial, one other was a placement in a Sponge Bob Square Pants episode that's netting me a payment every quarter on my PRO statement and the other one was for a targeted advertisement that resulted in hundreds of dollars in back end royalties. You never know if or when it can happen but it can with any track at any time.
