What happened to the ratings?

All of a sudden all but one of my clips are completely without rating. What happened? Some kind of database glitch?

Hi!

Mine also: all clips I checked have Average Rating: 0.0 (0 votes)

BUT: if you search for any clip with rating >0 then you get 191 clips. So, not all clips have rating=0.0 (0 votes).

Good eye! This wasn't a glitch - we're in the process of reworking and refining how we deal with ratings, so the default/curator rating is no longer the same as user ratings, and no longer visible on the Clip Pages.

The idea with this is to seperate out the types of information we have about clips, so that we can do a better job of determining sort order and display the most relevant and salable clips first. It's also meant to get people to start rating clips! :)

Hi, Shedli!

Good decision, because these 'default' ratings visible to all were quite confusing. When I wrote about the 191 clips which had ratings, I also noticed that most of these clips appear in the p5 Front Page in some mysterious order (quasi-random-4x-5x) which remains stable for a very long time.

Pity. :(

Every time I get something approved, I check the rating to see what the crew thinks about my work. I think it's a helpful tool to determine which way to go with future clips.

About the rating... It might help if we could see who did the rating. I think I would be more inclined to take a look at someone else's clips, if I knew that person had looked at mine and rated some of them. Besides it might keep people from intentionally giving really bad ratings.

I agree. I think it should be public knowledge. :) Also it helps hinder abuse if there is any.
