Promoting the site?

Hi all...

To the folks at pond5... this is not a criticism, only curiosity, so please don't take this the wrong way.

Where are you guys currently promoting the site? I did a search on microstock clips, microstock footage, microstock video, and a few others and I drilled down the search results and I never found pond5. Having said that, I've sold 4 clips which tells me someone found it, but my search was on google... it would be nice to see us on there.

Is there any kind of more agressive marketing plan in the works? Have you considered adwords?

Your database is at about 50% of the largest microstock site out there... I would say that's very good considering the other guys are huge.

Thanks for your time... I'm loving this site and I'd love to see it bloom... it would be great for all of us.

Hi Cardoso.

We are indeed doing adwords, as well as some other search-based marketing. We're constantly refining this, and have been doing some experimentation in the past couple days, so you might not be seeing our ads all the time (Google works in mysterious ways, but we've been working with a couple experts in the area to optimize things).

Beyond that, we're planning a major marketing campaign in the near future, and I think you'll be seeing a big difference in sales when that happens.

There are no such word as 'microstock' in any Pond5 page keywords list - this can be why you get no pages with Pond5 when search.

When you search for 'nelson cardoso stock video' on Google then Pond5 is in 3-rd place :)

That's true... but as a web designer, I know for sure that no one will ever do a search on 'nelson cardoso stock video'... they will do searches on stock video, stock footage, microstock video, microstock footage, microstock clips, etc... they'll be looking for the cheapest/best footage they can get... most people on earth that need footage have never heard of me.

I'm sure this is why Tom mentioned the "major marketing campaign"... so that makes me happy.

It was cool however to see the result of your search... thanks for sharing that. Great gallery by the way... I just checked out your stuff. I need to start learning with the crowd here, there lots of talent floating around on our forum.
