GoPro HD good enough for Pond5?

Not necessarily at 1080p, but maybe at 720p?

We will accept footage from the GoPro, but usually only if the footage is unique, as you can see in the examples Wideweb linked to, we probably wouldn't go for ducks on a pond but if it's being used for its specific advantages, we're happy to have it as part of our collection.

GoPro has it's advantage on "first person" action type shots where it would be expensive or difficult to mount a normal HD camera. The 1080p is good as is 720hd. It is a waste to use it for photos or normal video. The GoPro when mounted on a motorized vehicle tends to turn the video to jello and is not much good. If a person is looking at getting into video don't buy a GoPro. I use it extensively on flying an ultralight, motorcycle, ATV and snowmobile use. If possible I still carry my 5D MKII or 7D and use for anything that quality counts more than action.

I assume one cannot upload the GoPro footage as is, straight from the camera? However, if you export as PhotoJPG and it hugely bloats the file. Any thoughts on this?

The Photo JPEG is a more standard at more agencies therefore is easiest to manage. I do believe P5 will accept straight from camera. I always like to do a little post processing in any case. Believe me, the videos that GoPro use for advertising has a "lot" of post processing.
