Newbie using Final Cut Express having issues w/Pond 5

Hey all,
I'm a newbie to using FCE and was wondering what the correct codec settings are for getting video approved by P5. I'm using an XHA1. Thanks!

encode into .mov using the MJPEG B codec (motion jpeg, that is if you are shooting in the native 60i frame rate of that camera). Do 95% quality, upper field first, 1920x1080 resolution, square pixels.

Awesome, thanks for the info! I just actually downloaded the MPEG Streamclip app and used FCE to export the MOV file, then imported into Steamclip to then export as MJPEG B..which so far is looking pretty good. thanks again for the info!

Wondering if you know where to download the MJPEG B codec for FCE...would be nice to save a few steps by not having to use streamclip. thanks

The codec is installed on all MACs. You just need to dig deeper. ;-)

I'm on PC, can't tell you exactly where. But there's an option somewhere to enable older codecs or something like that. That's where you'll find MJPG.

FCE has all of the software that you need for submissions to P5. Use File - Export - Quicktime conversion and then Options to choose the codec and settings for your clip.

You have to go into the user preferences for quicktime, and check show legacy codecs. Not the preferences menu in the quicktime player, but the OS system settings. QT should be listed under the network stuff, and there is a checkbox to show the older codecs.
