color corrections

I own a spyder 2 and did the calibration today on my laptop for the first time. It seems now everything is VERY contrasty and dark. Like I was going through some of my older clips and it makes me worried they are way too dark. Is there some manual way to double check a calibration?

hummm, I use the Spyder 2 also. Most of us use LCD and not true HD monitors so many times it's a guess.

Scott,
When you did the calabration did you do it next to a bright window or light?
I find if the monitor has a bright light on it, the calibration will be wrong.

Also make sure you don't have any other calibration software running, like adobe. It puts that in the startup folder.
And make sure you have the latest drivers for both your video card and spyder.

I need to check into it. I manually went and fixed it back to the brightness and contrast it was at. I shouldn't have started playing with it :-)
